I do get what your saying about link up etc.if you take izzy and whoever plays that side with him they always link well going forward.but with brown it's always sideways or backwards a bit like an ex rangers captain I remember lol.but more importantly he does bring balance to the team

I'm sick of people getting on our captains back. For all the people slating him, go look at our results when he is not in the team and then look at them when he is.

Tell me when the monumental differences between the results stick in.

Brown, Ledley and Kayal are the key to how this team works.

Brown is a donkey in my view. Yes he is committed, yes he is energetic, no he can't play football.

The reason we play better with him on the right-hand side is because he can do less damage out there. His uncontrolled dodgemlike behaviour breaks up our own play as much as it does the ooposition's. One good game this season - the 2-2 against Rangers.

If we manage to hang onto Kayal, he should be punted.

I think he is vital to the team . His role playing wide usually means the opposing winger/full back doensn't effect us and when he stays central it allows our attacking players to go forward . Hence, people seem to want Brown doing McCourt runs and playing passes like Ki but what his role is to add defensive stability to the team
. He obviously has a mental effect on the team due to him being captain .

He's had a few really good games since new year, but in general no I still don't rate him particularly highly, sure he's commited, got bags of energy, 'dig' and whatever other words you want to use to describe him acting the hardman, but he's not a great footballer.

People can harp on about statistics of how many games we've won with him in the team all day long, but we've won plenty of games where he's played absolute * so that argument holds about as much water as a sieve.

For me Scott Brown is a perfect captain, Apart from some of the stupid stuff that he does.
When hes playing its as if he fires up the other players without beating 2-3 men or scoring 1-2 goals, Simply by his work rate and determination. However when hes not their we seem to struggle in some games (After he went off in the CIS cup against rangers they started to really dominate)
I think Brown gets way too much stick than he deserves and I'm happy with his contribution this year.

I was a little surprised when he won player of the year, have to say there wasn't much competition though, actually thought Caldwell should have won it.

Pretty much agree with that, I think we could get better than Brown but he has improved a lot and does add something to the team, still not sure exactly what that something is as he still has the ability to frustrate me no end but out of the current squad he deserves his place.

not a great footballer, not a bad footballer, but i do feel he has a lot of heart, effort and he as captain is partly responsible for the good spirits and bonding that have taken place this season, and while i said he's not great, i do still think he can be

I still cant decide if i love him or hate him. Hes in the Sammy mould of being very hit and miss. That speaks volumes, given he has been here for a fair while. He should have established himself as a consistent, valuable player which I just dont think he is. Hes got great energy, determination, aggression etc, but im afraid that doesnt make you a good footballer.

He made a definite improvement after being shifted to right mid.

His lack of passing ability isn't as stark when he has less options available to him.

Kayal and Brown are the first players on my teamsheet. They are the absolute key to how this team works.

They set the tempo for the others, raise the bar. The shift that Brown puts in is phenemonal and the captains role he has took on has been very successful so far.

People for some reason can't see the positives to Browns play but I'd rather have a Scott Brown over a Kris Commons any day of the week.

disagree 100% think brown under lennon has been superb extactly what we need from midfield, lacking the goals but i doubt he will ever be 15 goals a season player for us

He doesn't play the box to box type midfield role that first brought him to attention at Hibs, therefore many believe that we are not getting value for money from Brown...however he does play the driving force, enthusiasm, dig and commitment part well.....I fully appreciate that this does not always transfer to attractive football, but it is essential all the same.....I think Lennon (more than most) appreciate that it is a critical ingredient and Brown gives it in abundance...therefore he is central to our success.....he does still need to improve though and considering his age I am positive that he has, and will continue to do so...<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />
