I think he may struggle this season. But that is just a hunch. Based on last season. he could play a blinder.

Robson / Brown woulda been mine with Gravesen there as back up. Happy now?

Gravesen is a nutter, headless chicken, call him wot the * you like, he was a goalscorer and had some dig. Two old firm goals, hat-trick at love street and man of the match performance on his debut at pittodrie is good enough for me.

Hartley is a one-paced, journeyman, run-of the-mill SPL dud,who will be found out against quality opposition.

The sooner Crosas signs the better.

He's had a poor tournament for his high standards although I've noticed some good points about his game too. His passing has let him down more but his tracking back has been pretty good IMO. Players around him speaking tonight after the Feyenoord game have also been poor in many ways which makes his job a bit harder. I think Hartley's got a big part to play next season but certainly not in every game.

hartley was * again against Feyenoord almost cost another goal and just dosent look the part. i know some of you will be saying he also set up a goal but it was a free kick wich anyone could have put in and he wont be near them when nakas back. hartley is def not good enough to run our midfield a bench player at best

I'm very happy, thank you very much......

With Brown in the CM,I very much doubt we would have won the flag, given the form he showed for the bulk of last season. You surprised me,I thought you would have had Gravesen starting given you rate him so highly. You obviously dont rate him that highly if he was only"back up"

"Two OF goals, hat trick at Love St and MOM at Pittodrie on his debut is good enough for me"You are obviously easily pleased!!!I'm sure they are preparing a place for Gravesen in the Greatest Celtic XI ever with an endorsement like that!!!

You will have seen plenty of Crosas then?

Yeah your right I'm very easily pleased. 6 goals in 18 starts is a pish contribution from a midfielder. Your great wth the sarcasm, but while I can name stand-out games for Gravesen in his brief spell in the team, you still havent named one for Hartley. Ive seen more of Crosas in 2 friendlies than I have of Hartley in 2 years.

Take away his header in Moscow and try to think of one useful contribution he made to the team without using any of the following circa phrases:

    'reads the game so well'

    'hit the free-kick / corner'

    'solid'

    'dependable'

    'tries hard'

How about the last 8 games of the season?I think he made a useful contribution in those games.

How about several games home and away in the CL last season,Benfica,Shaktar,Milan, not including Spartak Moscow.I'll tell you something,Hartley shows more understanding of playing at that level than your hero Gravesen.Remember his performance at Old Trafford and at Copenhagen. As you yourself say a"nutter"and "headless chicken"Just the qualities you need for the CL!!!

Would most certainly have to agree with all of the above, as im a hibee and i hate his guts cos he cheated a hat-trick past us in the cup a few years back when playing for Der Hun Juniors.

Although he does team up with Barry Robson excellently and together they pulled celtc out of a hole last season when Broonaldo was firing blanks. He's a good player to have on the bench at least IMHO as he can occasionally produce something out of nothing.

    Nah, * him. :86:

any one who bad mouths paul hartley as a footballer need to go back to school and take football as a standard grade

he is the best we have in DM, he does a job in that position for both club and country. when he was subbed in the nou camp last season his completed pass percentage was over 90%. regardless of whether every one of those passes are back to the keeper (which we all know they were not) that is an INCREDIBLE rate of completion.

he maybe doesnt go on darting runs, score a rake of goals, or make 45 yard passes but paul hartley is a very important part of our midfield. in fact id say he should be a first pick along side brown/robson next year.

Big fan of Hartley. He was asked to do a job last season and he grew into it. Remember this guy started off as a winger until he was about 26. I think our problem has been the other cm in mf who is supposed to be the creative one. Brown faded after the first few months and nobody had that creativity until Robson turned up. The creative cm and the fact that Naka was injured/ out of form meant we relied to heavily on McGeady, who admittedly came through for us most of the time but we need to have a plan B in midfield.

Hartley was bought on the back of the reputation he made for himself at Hearts, he was a AM there not a DM, He was asked to do a job at DM here and he went about doing that no questions asked. IMO he should be given some credit for his performances in the run-in to last season. However the fact of the matter is that we are trying to compete in the CL and Hartley is not good enough. It doesnt matter if he can do a job in the SPL, he just isnt good enough.

As I've said before, Hartley has a part to play this season. He will be vital if we're doing well in CL, SPL, LC and SC. A squad becomes vital when involved in so many tournaments. He still does a good job in the holding area and how people can judge his form in pre-season games is beyond me when he played so well and the end of season. Plus playing alongside Donati is enough to shatter anyones confidence. Brown, Robson and Hartley have all struggled to cope playing alongside the guy.

I agree, he is a good squad player to have but not good enough to be a regular starter,
