call the institute someones escaped again.

Hartley has one of the best footballing heads on currently at CP. he reads the game extremely well.

he is essential for what we do in defence and going forward.

clearly you've never played football or been near a football pitch.

Ive slated him since the day he walked in the team, even during the run in when people were fawning over him despite him having some * poor games.

This is the commonly used phrase that realy * me off

How can I guy who constantly switches off and lets midfield runners go 'read the game well?' Twice at fir park during the run in and again at tannadice he was caught staring at the * tweety birds whilst midfield runeers waltzed past him and luckily * it up. Go watch the highlights back for yourself, its true.

Couldnt agree more mate. We, as a team, for the last few years have punched above our weight. Celtic park is a place NO team in europe wants to come to. No one wins there. We ARE a massive club, we are huge, but we paly in a small league and cannot get the players that some o here seem to think we can.
How many on here would stop working for who they work for and work for Celtic for half the money? I dont think there will be too many.
We have good players at our club, a couple of great ones, but the players that we can attract are of a certain level in the most part....and Hartley is one of them.
I like the guy, he tries hard and is a decent player, who loves Celtic.

    Brown and Gravesen

Brown and Gravesen were both attacking players when signed,
Only brown was signed for that job, WGS wanted Gravesn to play the holding role which he just cant do. i agree with other comments that in the Spl we dont need a holding midfielder, but you cant just expect someone to come in and do the job in europe.

He is still got something to offer us but he is certainly slowing down, he was totally off the pace against spurs but remember it was a friendly and he has just been away on holiday. I'm not condemning him until I see him in a competitive match.

So you dont think he had a good game at Tannadice?Nobody is claiming Hartley is world class, but it is significant that when he was paired up with Robson, our midfield functioned so much more effectively.Who would your CM partnership have been?

You also stated in an earlier post"Ive slated him since he walked into the team"Great attitude......Nothing like giving a new player time to settle!!!

Yeah the midfield functioned well, was solid, dependable, blah blah * blah, so it should do, thats the bare minimum midfielders should be surely? I want Celtic midfielders to get the ball and make things happen. Not to float in amongst the back four passing to the nearest defender (or Tottenham attacker). Where does this * come from that we 'need someone like him in the team? Why?

To say Hartley and Robson won us the league is utter pish! Did Lennon and Lambert win us the league under MON? No. Yeah they had a role to play and they were decent and thats fine, but Hartley will never be a player that commands a midfield in the CL. Try and think of one game where Hartley ran the show in his time at Celtic, none!

As for giving him time to settle, how long did Gravesen or Riordan get to settle? Hartley had a full half season in his supposed 'favoured advanced position' and was complete and utter *, DIRE!! Yet WGS persisted him before shifting him to his current position, where he's no better than average.

I note you havent answered my question.Who would your CM partnership have been?

Where in my post did I say that Hartley/Robson won us the league? They made a significant contribution,to suggest otherwise is frankly pish.I can also recall several games domestically and in the CL were Hartley has played well and played a significant role for the TEAM.Its not been glamorous, and he hasn't cracked in 30 yarders, but its been important for the team.

As for Gravesen and Riordan,I have some sympathy for Riordan's situation, but I hope you will forgive me,I have very little sympathy for someone who is picking up 40k a week from the club and seems unable to follow very basic instructions and looks as if he hadnt played CM before in his puff.A choice between Hartley and Gravesen?Hartley,no contest.
