Looks like Celtic have been looking at the Carlisle United keeper.... http://www.fantasyfitba.com/blog/?p=950 don't know much about him but they seem to have a good goalkeeper coach down their that can spot tallent....Westwood learnt his trade at the cumbrian club (where westwood won his first caps for ireland) before moving to Coventry.

Think Fraser Forster will sign a permanent deal with us.

Stats can tell you anything you want.

I go with what my eyes tell me and i see too many flaws in Forster's game that have an impact on our defence and team in general. He doesn't command his box, too many shots get under him and his decision making is questionable.

I dont really care we had the best defensive record in the SPL this year also.

Our defense (especially CB) is too slow, ponderous and immobile and would get their arses ripped in Europe right now.

The Inverness game should be the kick up the * that we need to get better players in who are on it all the time - every time - not just sometimes.

A NEW GK + CB PLEASE!

Yup, agree with this. Westwood is the more likely of the two.

he's not even highly rated among Carlisle fans, wouldnt be good enough in my view (part time Carlisle fan)

Tony Caig is the Carlisle goalkeeping coach (ex Newcastle and Hibs)

I have slaughtered Forster but today i was really thinking about our GK situation and what i think we should do.

Firstly, sell Zaliuska, i dont think he will ever be our 1st team goalkeeper and for being 28 i dont think he is that experienced, he has played less than 100 games as a first team GK.

Forster, I think he has huge weaknesses in his game but i think he also has some good strengths. He is a good shot stopper and i think he has shown some quick reflexes at times. He is however poor at commanding his box and my heart is in my mouth everytime he flaps a fist at a cross. But saying that, he is only 23, he has time to improve and i think he looks very professional when he comes out onto the pitch at half time early, i think it shows he is keen to keep focused for the whole match, something our Holy Goalie was sometimes a bit lacking in at times.

Cervi, what the * is happening with him? Been here since 2008 and i havent seen him play once! I really cannot comment on him, anyone else know if he is good enough to possibly become a first choice keeper one day? He is 24, so a year older than Forster.

If i was Lenny, i would be looking to get in a GK around 21 - 25 to be our first team GK for the next 5 years. We need to build a team and to have the same GK working with the defence for the next few years to help build on the great defensive record we have this season. But i also think we should have 2 good GKs, not just the 1 with a pish back up like i think we have now. So i would keep Forster if we can get him for a good price! So with that in mind, i would suggest the following GKs for us to have a look at as either our 1st or 2nd good GK....

Alex Smithies - Huddersfield. Is 21 and looks like a great prospect!

Kaspar Schmeichel - Leeds Utd. Is 24 and i think he looks good everytime i see him.

Lee Camp - Nottingham Forrest. Is 26 and has a lot of games under his belt, Billy the hun wouldnt go for it i dont suppose however!

Keiron Westwood - Coventry. Is 26 and has played 268 games including 7 at international level.

I would like to see any of these guys accompany Forster as our goalkeepers for next year, Forster is still young so if Westwood or Camp were to come in then him dropping down to no.2 would give us a 2nd GK i would have some confidence in, if he sorts his kicking! We also need a 3rd GK and as i do not know about Cervi i do not know if he is even worth having if he wont eventually make the step up to first team, if he is then great, if not then we need to find a young GK that WILL make it into the team one day.

I would say Given is a big no, would waste wages on him for a season or 2 then need to find someone else, better just getting in someone now and keeping them for a few years.

Id sign big Forster in a second for £2million or round about.

He's a decent goalie and will only get better. People dont realise how hard it is to get a decent Keeper, Zaluska is an absolute bombscare every shot or freekick hit into him when he played was like a penalty to the opposition, he's as stiff as anything and has no real goalkeeping qualities yet he looked good in the SPL.

Forster organises the defence well and is a good big Club goalkeeper, rarely makes a mistake, is good one on one, I wouldnt take the gamble on thinking we can get someone better as we'd end up with a donkey.

    But thats for Motherwell.

To play for Celtic you need to be able to handle big pressure and its a different style of goalkeeping as we play attacking football and out keeper gets caught out a lot one on one so we need someone who wont crumble under pressure and be good one on one.

People think McGregor is a good goalie but he wouldnt be able to play for us as he likes his defence to sit right in front of him and we play the opposite.

We need an 18 yard box Keeper who comes from a similar styled team and is proven not a 6 yard box Keeper.

Forster slotted in well as he came from a top of the League side like Norwich.

We cant gamble with a mid table Club goalkeeper who will be new to the pressure of winning and playing in a team with a high defence.
