I followed Celtic through the 90's and it wasnt pleasant not one little bit. There are however a couple of major differences between then and now.

We were a shambles for most of that decade, the board, the team, everything. We struggled to finish as runners up most seasons in this period. We were also up against the stongest Rangers team there has probably ever been.

The tables have turned now.We are the richest club in the country. The Huns are in disarray off the park(allegedly)yet this so called poor team are only 3 points behind us.

Ive posted before that it is ludicrous that people should be calling for the manager to be sacked. That doesnt mean we cant criticise some of the performances, tactics and signings.

i agree to a certain extent, but like myself most of the criticism is coming from fans that have been there for years.

i've mentioned going through rangers 9 in a row, what i didn't mention about it was also going 5 years without a trophy.

my dad attended the 1967 european cup final, is celtic daft and is criticising this celtic side as much as i am.

we do have our glory hunters whom i absolutely detest.
as i've said on another thread you knew a celtic fan was a celtic fan when he wore the green and white during the 90's.

MON's sides (apart from his last season) were brilliant to watch. they were direct. the passing game is over-rated imo. man utd aren't a passing style side like arsenal but i'd watch utd over them any day. barcelona do pass but are also pretty diret, no bullshit passing along the back line.

Of course we do, that comes with being the best club in the country.

Thats why half of * Aberdeen etc support one of the Old firm - they win more than their local team (Don't know your story being from Falkirk - could be a history in your family so Im not having a go). Some people 'picked' Celtic and may feel there choice was made under false pretences.

We have been spoiled with Success in the 00s when you remember how barren the 90s were, and no doubt people have got a little accustomed to winning with ease.

But this is a forum, we are allowed a * moan without this type of thread popping up the day after a bad result and the commitment of some supporters coming under question.

if you support a manager who delivers success regardles of entertainment value, YOU are the glory hunter.

Although, even this could be argued as a glory hunter in theory switches allegences, either way * nonsense.

We're not being entertained and that's the problem. Win lose or draw, if people are entertained they will cheer.

Glory hunters, what's a glory hunter. It's certainly not a Celtic fan.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

Being a Celtic fan is for life, win, lose or draw as they say.

We could lose the league this year and the next and so on.

Sure, I went through 9 of them and as I said, it's for life.

I have never known anyone who supports Celtic because they are a winning team.

Shame on anyone who does and shame on anyone who thinks because they give out about a defeat they fall into that category.

I personally think if you can carry on as normal after a defeat like Saturday then you can't be much of a Celtic fan

So there you go, turn the tables you may think, but honestly people are affected in different ways, don't just label because there opinion differs from yours

As Andy said, every big club in the world has glory hunting fans. It's inevitable for a club of success.

We have been spoiled by success over the past decade but that doesn't mean that people don't have the right to criticise the current team.

I think every big club has a certain element of bangwagon people. It's all sunshine and light when we are winning and the reverse when we get beat.
But I do have to say there is a lot of valid criticism to be laid at Strachan and the players door for their performaces over the last 2.5 months. At best we have been inconsistent. Now I hoped the big blow out last week against St Mirren and the morale boosting way things ended up Wednesday night had set us back on track. But then we produce this inept performance yesterday. Sure we had more of the play and created more chances. But not by that much. We had a lot of the ball but really didn't create that many openings over the 90 minutes while McManus was totally exposed once again on St Mirren's goal. At the end of the day it's very very difficult to win all 3 trophies but facts are facts we went out of the Cup yesterday because we played nowhere near where we are capable and as a result the game was close enough for St Mirren to have a chance and they were able to take it. That isn't good enough.
Hopefully this is nothing serious and we can stay on course for the double but the next 2 weeks will be big. First we have the League Cup Final against the huns then are away to Dundee United in the league the following week. If we can win both of those games then the St Mirren reverse is nothing other then a minor set back but right now given how inconsistent we have been and how totally out of form Samaras and VOH up front are thats a very big if.

its the same with anything but people are only intererested in things in all walks of life not just football when things are going great. take my bro for example for the first 15 years of his life no one really gave a * about him, hes signed schoolboy forms with a proffesional club last month and the phone hasnt stopped ringing since

From when I started following Celtic, they won only one league in 18 years. yet we still got lots of good football, fun, excitement and entertainment.
Thats all gone now but I am still here.

Saying you want a manager sacked or saying the team is poor isn't gloryhunting, its caring. Maybe in a wrong way.

If these criticisms of the team/Strachan came out at any other time in the season other than after a poor result, you'd have a point.

But since these accusations only ever come out after a poor result, how can you imply that the you are not influenced by results? Surely those who support the manager through thick and thin are the ones not influenced by results?
