Anyone comparing Forster to Boruc, need to have a good look at themselves.

I don't agree that Forster is more consistent than Artur Boruc. Artur Boruc played here for 5 seasons and he was:

    • World Class for 2 of them
    • Excellent for 1
    • Good for 1
    • Very Poor for 1
I'd say that's a pretty good level of consistency for any player. You won't find a bigger fan of Boruc than me so I was as disappointed as anyone when he allowed his weight to go and his hunger to diminish but overall he was superb for Celtic. He's the best Celtic goalkeeper I've ever seen and probably the best one we're going to see for quite some time.

    This.

I like big Forster but he's no Boruc. Boruc was an incredible keeper, was an absolute game changer of a keeper.

Alot of nitpicking here over small things Forster did last night. Lets not forget that he did very little training, if any, and started in a European match where the expectation was to win and keep a clean sheet. Thats a high pressure scenario for any player and we got a clean sheet.

I get the feeling that some people secretly want Forster to mess up so they can swan into a thread like this going "I told you so". Ugh!

Agree, he was rushed back too soon and there was zero justification for dropping Zaluska. Only one of the things Lennon got wrong on the night.

I wouldnt have started him but he did. Abit pointless bring it up now when he played and kept a clean sheet. The reason why we didnt get a result wasnt down to him playing.

    I feel sorry for Zal

Forsters a good consistent keeper but it was a shame seeing Zal relegated to the bench last night

I know, it wasn't Forster's fault, he did all he could do and that was keep the goals out.

Again he opted to punch the ball instead of catch it, I don't understand why a 6 foot 7 goalkeeper is punching the ball and not just catching it and starting an attack from the back.

Nothing will make me happier than Forster succeeding and becoming the keeper yous all think he is, and i'll be the first to admit im wrong.

But he is not the playe we should have signed.

Forget about the ball he punched, its irrelevant tbh

Who then? The injured Craig Gordon? The miles outside our wage structure and past his peak Shay Given? The pole that nobody has seen? The croat that couldnt displace Gomes? The headcase belgian?

A fine selection of high priced damaged goods.

I don't know, because idon't know what sort ofmoney the board are willing to spend, i don't know who's in our price range..

are they they the only 4/5 goalkeepers we could possibly sign?

Any goalkeeper, who can catch a ball when coming for crosses, any goalkeeper who can get down quick enough, any goalkeeper who can command his defence, any goalkeeper who can kick the ball under pressure.

Fact is, its the no.1 goalkeeper that Lennon wanted and the board got him for him when Newcastle stopped their clowning around. To suggest they should have signed someone else is to say that they should have not backed their manager 100%.

Boruc was actually poor at high crosses, he wouldnt make your criteria. David de Gea wouldnt make your criteria at the moment, Petr Cech would struggle too....

Point is, no keeper is perfect. If they were, they wouldnt be playing in the SPL.

Cards on the table time, Forster, isn't fit to be our number one. He is no better, or no worse than Zaluska, who I dont rate either. This big guy is 6ft 7ins tall, and totally crap at cross balls, he would rather punch a ball, than catch a cross, and very often fumbles any attempt to catch a cross ball. He is as slow as * trying to get down for low balls, and his reflex agility is very questionable. He is uncomfortable with pass backs to him, as was witnessed again last night, plus he cannot pick out a player, with his kick outs. Very disappointed we took him back :38:

    Were they suppose to?

When you set the SPL clean sheets record, concede the fewest goals of any team in the league and it doesnt win you an SPL title its hardly the first place you think that cost you the SPL title. Do you really fault Forster for not doing enough last season?

For all our percieved frailties at the back, up front was the problem and if Commons didnt come in and have that blistering 2nd half of the season that he did, I suspect the major weakeness in our squad would be more evident.

Our problems this season wont be conceding goals, it will be putting the ball in the back of the net.
