    Well today's referee certainly was concerned about not being seen as too lenient on Arsenal, and in some ways I get that. Eduardo's penalty on Wednesday certainly killed off the qualifier tie rather than turn it on its head and it came at a time when Arsenal felt niggly. Rooney's penalty was a bit more of the latter. Both have legitimate detractors I feel. But you make your own luck in this business most of the time. Both teams were evenly matched overall today. Arsenal had everything bar the final touch (Arshavin excepted).

    I'd say despite today's dissapointment I'm satisfied with the season so far (albeit that it is in its infancy). Qualifying for the champions league is a more tense and unpredictable affair than a league match. Losing to them today is annoying but in a 38 match league, there is always the opportnity to get back on track especially as Arsenal are only 3 games in. Had we lost out in the Champs League it would have been more devastating in concrete and psychological terms. The Mancs lost to Burnley but it was hardly the end of their league/overall campaign and today is the same for us.

    It was a * pen , just like fletcher on simples was a pen , the differance between that and Boruc on the diving croat * , is Almunia came out both arms out and took the player there was contact , even if he was already on the way down he played the ball the keeper never then the keeper took him out , = pen

    There was contact, there's no doubt about that. However i wouldn't say it was a penalty as Rooney wasn't catching the ball he'd knocked on.
