[Link] Gerrard assistant manager/player

I would take him,been watching youtube vids of Rodgers speaking about tactics/formations etc,he seem to prefer 433 and the centre of the midfield 3 seems to be the most important,dictating play etc.I think Gerrad could do a great job for us in that position,fantastic passer of the ball.

Although I don't particularly rate Gerrard anymore (even at his best I think he was vastly overrated), as a coach he could have the ability to improve our youngsters in midfield. I think the likes of McGregor, Rogic, Allan and Christie could learn somewhat from Gerrard.

 

I'd bring him in, possibly a tim as well(so might come), mind he asked for us to play his testimoial although we knocked him back also his cousin Anthony Gerrard is a tim, noticed he's tweeted quite often about Celtic.

 

Be perfect to play that deep role dictating the play , letting the ball do the work. At 35 he has a couple of years left in that role , look at Scholes and Pirlo , they were reborn playing deep in their late 30's. Would be a no brainer.

 

He's got Celtic supporting family up here

 

Him signing for us, in any role, (player or coach) would also instantly raise our profile overseas.
It would get more eyes on the SPL, and us in particular, which could only be a good thing when trying to attract other players to the club.

 

Off the pitch this would be a great deal, he'd inspire our young centre mids and probably generate a lot of funds in merchandise.
On the pitch I'm honestly not sure he'd make the squad, he was a drain on Liverpool near the end and I believe he's only got worse while in the MLS.
As a coach he's unproven and maybe shouldn't walk into an assistant manager role.
Also think its pretty unlikely as although its known that he got on very well with Rodgers, Gerrard was a liverpool legend and Rodgers just happened to be manager for a short time while he was there, I'm not sure the connection is any greater than that

 

I think a player/coach role would be awesome, certainly would be able to do it up here.

Wouldn't surprise me if we got him the next time the yank league has a break, similar to what Drogba, Donovan and other's have done for a couple month's in between..
