I think he will as well, but he could score a hattrick and people on here would still find faults and want rid.

 

Georgios Samaras must be the only player who can perform well, not great, but above average, for 20 minutes of a match and suddenly he's world class and deserving of starts.

how do you know Bangura will do better. I have not seen evidence of this yet. There is no way he will start in the OF game.

ffs mate, you have amazingly low standards if you think that was an excellent performance. I would agree that he was decent. In fact, probably his best performance since he played in the game that has given him such a legend status. But excellent!! You cant be serious.

He didnt have a shot at goal did he? He had a few loping runs that were hacked down by some cynical Spanish tackling, but not a lot more.

10 times better than Forrest or Hooper? Hooper didnt have his best game, granted, and neither did Forrest, but 10 times? Nah.

Sammy was certainly one of the top 10 or 11 players we had. But we still lost. With him playing in the usual position in these games.

 

Really hope he scores against the Rangers on Sunday if he's playing.

Samaras' performance last night wasn't enough to merit a start on Sunday but his fans will tell you otherwise.

Let's go 1 up front with Samaras and leave Hooper and Stokes on the bench. Smashing idea.

Hooper was ineffective because he played the lone striker role away to Atletico Madrid. That was a poor choice from the manager. Hooper wasn't great though, he was weak physically but he's one of our top goalscorers.

I know you never said 1 up front but if Samaras plays then that'll probably be what happens since it's at Ibrox.

I'd give Stokes right up until kick off to prove his fitness. Jelavic isn't 100% either but you can bet he'll start.

 

But samaras often plays up front on his own, and when he does he gets pelters if he doesn't score. But it's ok if hooper doesn't?

Lennon would be stupid to start stokes if he just manages to get fit for the game, which I doubt he will.

We don't know the managers tactics yet so we can't really comment.

 

Samaras gets pelters because he's infuriating. He's lazy. Did you see him last night on the wing? Hardly showed any desire to get back and help the left back. Just walks around the pitch doing what he wants and then when it suits him he'll go on a big run.

He's too inconsistent. How can he play like he did in the 2-0 game and then never replicate against smaller sides?

There's a difference with Hooper being ineffective away to Atletico Madrid in a role he's never played before and Samaras being ineffective at home to SPL * in a role he's played plenty of times.

Samaras has scored 28 goals in 87 SPL starts. Hooper has scored 23 in 31. Enough said.

About 8 or 9 games competitive games ago. Most of which he didn't start.

 

Sammy is a European style player and that was shown last night i thought he was one of the best players on the park, i dont think scottish football suits him as a striker but still think hes got a place in the team for derby and euro matches.

 

Lazy? He's about the only player on the pitch who gives a toss. He is far from lazy.

But when samaras plays, it tends to only be against the tough teams and on his own. If he was allowed a run in the first team partnered with hooper then he would get more goals. You can't expect a striker to score tonnes of goals when he only plays every now and again.

 

Usual mixed back of flashes of brilliance and hilarious moments of ineptitude from Sammy for me last night.

For every good thing he does he'll fall on his * 5 minutes later.

Infuriating player.

 

I take it back then, I didnt realise he was so prolific.

 

Fantastic post Ross Sums the guy up ...Plays great for 20 mins then he is a world beater ...We have another one like that he is very inconsistent as well ....However thats for another thread
