Samaras was absolutely rotten in Sion as well.

    Played well tonight though.

Your right, he did play better than Hooper tonight, its plain to see he doesn't link up well with him and every time he plays, Hooper is left stranded.

He doesn't even look up for Hooper most times when he has the ball and tends to go on a frantic run until he falls.

He did play decent tonight, I will give him that but he seems to get more recognition for playing one decent game out of 20 than the lads that do it week in and week out. :shamrock:

He's played well in more than one game in six months. He was sensational in the 3-0 game.

Its a shame because unless he scores twice in every game people slate him. Its pathetic.

I know. There's a wee crowd of folk whose prejudice just blinds them.

If Sammy has an off-game, they slate him for being the worst player in history.

If he has a good game, they slate everyone else for noticing the fact! :56:

    Kinda sad really...

For me, him and Ki were our two best players tonight.

Samaras was * horrid the full game, he was on his * 40% of the 90, and kept on giving the ball away, only good thing about him is bringing the ball down on his chest, and that's why Lennon only plays him, for his height and he can header the ball onwards

He is * poor, and I would have got shot of him months ago

He is the Celtic version of kyle lafferty

The only reason he was on the pitch tonight was because stokes was injured and bangura was being saved for sunday. He started well i shall give him that, but he is not a good player. Everyone is moaning at hooper saying taht sammy did more, but the only reason sammy did more was becuase he was playin in midfield on the wing. Hooper was on is own the whole match with no support. So wise up

Just one question - did you actually watch the game? :icon_mrgreen:

Cos even the * ESPN commentators noted - on several occasions - that Samaras was the pivotal figure for us. Seems real strange to me that they can quite clearly see this, while some folk who are fans of the club seem unable to. :39:

And as for being "on his *" a fair bit of the time - that was because Atletico also saw that he was the danger man, and dished out some shocking treatment to him. Which didn't shake him one bit I might add - he just got up and got on with it, never hid, and was always looking for the ball.

He started well but I seen him lose the ball numerous times and looked disinterested a lot of the match. A couple of decent games a year is not good enough. He should not be in the team. Still living off his two goals at the huns

ESPN commentators as well as the Gol TV commentators. Two sets of commentators agree he's pivotal yet some persists with the blinders on

What exactly did he do tonight that made him so wonderful?

    Did he Score? No
Did he get a shot on target? No
Did he even get a shot in? No.

Come on , The guys a striker.

Probably the same people that gives Stokes pelters for not scoring in 2 games.

He is not consistent enough!! Lenny knows it, Strachan knew it and sammy knows it!! Stokes is 10 times the player sammy is and even he is lazy and has his faults! I would rather bangura here for a year score 20+ than sammy here for 4 seasons doing * all! Play for the jersey or get out of here!!!

Sammy played on the left wing today and played Hooper through I believe.

He did well and athletico seemed to find him a handful and had several guys closing him down. He was played wide left though which I dont think works that well.

He is an enigma. Love him or loath him (he is a bit like footballing marmite), he has ability. The problem is that he seems to have to be in the mood to show it. If he was consistent, he could be one of our top performers, but he probably won't shine like he did tonight for another 4 or 5 games.

One benefit from his performance though, is that clubs will look on him with admiring eyes, and may place a bid that will be acceptable to all parties in January.

Didnt look into it for alot of the time, clearly knows hes not wanted after lenny telling him to go on loan and the fact we tried to bring in two strikers during the transfer window. He played at sion at home, st johstone at home, sion away and madrid away and we never won one game. Doesnt play at motherwell and we win 4-0. Says everything i think

He should still be up there but, Stokes can do it when he plays outside.
Sammy trips his way into the box and ends up on his face or plays for a corner.
He did look good tonight but not good enough IMO.

I don't slate the guy for the sake of it, I would love nothing more than for him to turn it round but I have suffered too many nightmares to have any confidence that he can. :shamrock:

Out of position but still one of our better performers over-all.

He was ok but then we were promised continuity and we got the same thing we do for every big game, Samaras.

Where is the cut off point? Do we go for another year without him scoring?

    FFS! NO!

He was playing on the left side of midfield.

Midfield. MID-field - that's the bit directly between the back and the front - the clue is in the fookin name!

So why are you trundling on about whether he shot or scored? He was playing in midfield. Are you criticising Kayal for not shooting and scoring? No. Are you criticising Ki for not shooting and scoring? No. Are you criticising Hooper - who WAS playing as a striker - for not shooting and scoring? No. So what the * have you got against Samaras?

    Sorry - rant over. :56:
