I think now is a good time for him to go, at least he managed to change a lot of fans opinions of him last season.

He's a legend one game then a villain the next :56: He's just too inconsistent.

I like him and would be happy enough if he was still here after January but wouldn't be too bothered if he left as he has served us well and gave us some unforgettable moments.

The fact that he contributed so much last year to help us earn millions in the CL to then be told he has to take a pay cut is pretty poor on celtic's part, I'd be telling them to shove it up their * if I was him.

Hopefully he has, and has demanded a transfer in January.

Are you saying that because you feel bad for him or because you want him gone?

I'm not bothered if he left either but asking him to take a pay cut sets a bad example to the rest of the players.

    It does indeed.

This has me thinking now. As far as I was aware, the top three earners at Celtic are (in order):

    Scott Brown
    Joe Ledley
    Giorgos Samaras

If Ledley and Samaras have allegedly been asked to take cuts in their pay (* knows why?), then I'd be inclined to think that Brown has also been offered a reduction to his pay.

He'll most likely be next out the door, I suspect.

I can understand a bit why sammy could be asked to take a wage cut . He is not in the team every week he is more rotation to be honest

No chance mate he only just signed a new 3 year contract with the club this month!

If he was asked to take a pay cut he took it.

Ah right, never knew he signed the new contract - thought it was still ongoing :50:

I wonder though, if high-profile guys like Samaras and Ledley are to leave the club, will our captain still be happy here if new signings in January (if any) are a bit......well......underwhelming?

This January may just see a mini outgoing of our top players (I still have a feeling Forster will be asking to leave as soon as possible in order to get to the world cup).

Boerrigter is above Sammy by approx 6k a week I think. Him, Ledley & Brown are the peak earners....Samaras the top of stage 2 earners.

How did Boerrigter justify such a high wage? A few games for ajax, that's crazy.

I think 44 games the season prior to him signing with us counts for more than a few. He also came with Champions League experience. So I can understand why he would be on a big wage.

This is the thing though - for right or for wrong, he was a marquee signing and a huge investment by the club. So a lot of the "the board * us again" comments after previous transfer window were a bit harsh IMO.
