    Celtic have opened talks over a move for Sheffield United right-back George Baldock.

    The 26-year old has one year left on contract and is understood to be interested in talking to the Scottish champions despite United's promotion to the Premier League.

    Baldock made 27 appearances for the Bramall Lane club last season as manager Chris Wilder utilised his versatility to play at right midfield.

    Celtic made an initial approach on Tuesday and outlined an opening offer.

    Wilder has been waiting to hear what budget he will have to strengthen his side but wants to bolster his defence and could sacrifice Baldock as part of his rebuild.

    The Blades saw off fierce competition from Leeds United to reach the promised land and scoop a television-rights bounty.

    However, a legal dispute regarding the ownership of the club remains ongoing at the High Court in London, which could potentially delay Wilder's budget confirmation.

    Had a wee peek on blades forums there.

    Apparently hes pacey, determined, works his socks off and is genuinely good on the ball as well as great at tracking back and providing good cover.

    It appears his final ball is a major weakness though.

    One thing they all seemed to ve adamant about was that he was one of a handful of blades players that could make the move to the epl without a problem.

    Nah mate that’s the huns that will flog any player with value! Hence why they can’t go above £500k for the boy from Oldham and have now turned their attention to a freebie from Charlton!
