[Official TC Thread] General Fan Action & Sack the Board Thread - TalkCeltic Signed letter

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Notorious, Sep 3, 2025.

  1. Realistically the only concession from the fans should be no longer carrying out the silent protest. Agreeing to a meeting is the square root of * all at this point and if the fans let up now the outcome of the meeting would be even worse.

  2. I'll bite. Specifically, how has it worked - with exception of the team getting the benefit of fans being vocally behind them, how have the fans gained anything here?

All the board have done is agree to a sit down. Nothing more, nothing less.

I think the silent protest (and the threat of further actions) has shown the board that the fans have had enough. If it has succeeded in getting a response from those feckers then we can all agree that it has been a small victory in what will probably be a long war.

  3. this is them throwing a bone for us to shut up and cheer on the team to look good for the sponsors, they won't change anything unless it starts hitting them harder, to them this is just a bit of blow back for the transfer window and will go away with a couple of token gestures, we as a fan base need to keep this up until real change is made, the only thing this has done is forced a meeting noting more nothing less and if that's what we all want then we can call it a win but it's not for me I want wholesale changes from the top and will continue voting with my absence and non purchase of merchandise untill there is change

  4. How it happened or whether the silent thing worked or not is irrelevant.
Facts are that due to the collectives efforts, they blazers are willing to sit down and talk to the fans. That's good progress.

The actual discussion, who's present and any meaningful outcomes - that still feels very away from yielding anything significant, especially given we want rid of some of the people we are going to be talking to!!

My expectations are low for now, but this step 1 in the process - the collective need to be very focussed, constructive and patient as well as not being fobbed off with hollow rhetoric and empty promises.
I wish them good luck, our future is at stake.

  6. FFS. Have you read any of the statements ? I will repeat again. The stated objective of the silent protest was to get the board to agree to sit down and talk to the fans which they weren't doing. That was the aim of the protest and you have acknowledged this has happened. As others have said this is the start not the end of the process however the first objective has been met. What did you think the protest was about ? Nothing can be achieved without talking and engagement which wasn't happening now it will.

Further strategies and protests will no doubt follow depending on the outcome of the talks.

  7. It shows the power of a united fan group.. the board can't just ignore us, they way they do the Ultras..

There will definitely be difficulties along the way, especially after the meeting on Monday. Agreeing a shared strategy may become difficult depending on what kind of answers Nicholson and McKay come up with.

  8. I wouldn’t be reading too much into the board deciding to meet with the fan group. It seems very well timed in my opinion and this board cannot be trusted. The fact we have a European game tonight is very convenient timing. The protest shouldn’t have been called off in my opinion. Until there is action, they should continue. The method of protest whether I agree or not or irrelevant, but it should still have gone ahead tonight. I’ve absolutely no doubt that the meeting on Monday will fall well short of what is required, then what? Back to protesting. If we had a league against Dundee etc tonight, would they be meeting on Monday? I’m not so sure they would.

  9. I'm not sticking up for the board. I'm fed up with their penny pinching and the last window was a disaster though they may have got lucky if Iheanacho and Tounekti work out.
I'm just interested to know what you mean by wholesale change from the top. Compared to the alternatives like an American consortium or the Saudis or whoever taking over Celtic, I think I'd rather have Desmond who although a billionaire, is Irish and has some affection for the club (though I think football is probably his 4th sport after golf, rugby and horse racing).
Do you mean the people who are running the club eg Nicholson, Lawell etc. Do you think other business men or ex- bankers or whatever would be different. I think a lot on the board are self-serving * but that's what successful business men are usually like - that's why they're successful.
All I'm basically asking is, who would you replace them with.

  10. Extremely disappointed the action was "postponed".

Makes the supporters group seem weak imo.

You dont halt operations over an agreement to speak, you dont stop an action because the opposition says they want to talk, and you certainly don't take ANYTHING these * hint at, say, or promise at face value.

You wait until something * tangible is on the table and the other side has stated their position.
Then, and only then, do you announce your INTENT to cease an action, and do so AFTER the other side has shown theyre word is good, THROUGH ACTION.

No matter what was promised in communications BEFORE this meeting, nothing should've been decided or postponed until after it took place.

All it took was ONE meeting to halt a protest? Really?

  11. The board have been cute as here. They've got a protest deferred only to avoid embarrassment on TV level on the European stagee . The next club game is 2 weeks away, and an away game at that - what they've effectively done is they've bought themselves 3 more weeks to spin a narrative while offering no guarantees in return. Again, they've played the fan groups like a fiddle and morons like you are lapping this up like a wee victory.

The protest should have went ahead regardless. You keep the pressure on, not ease up.

  12. Ha.

The group are obviously playing the longer game which is too subtle and complex for fucktards like you to understand. What do you propose then ? What did you expect ? The board to all go and a promise from Desmond of a 200m warchest in Jan ? You are a prefect example of why some * shouldn't be allowed on the internet.

People complained about the board treating the Celtic support like idiots and then we get * like you which makes you think. " wonder where they get this idea from."

Nobody has eased up. They have met objective one and will now be reviewing options and looking how to move things forwards.

  13. I really don't have any hopes that Mondays meeting will produce any break through but the fact that it is happening at all is a positive and a step in the right direction. A small step yes but a step nonetheless. My expectations are that at best Nicholson will produce more of the usual excuses, lessons learned etc platitudes and maybe some vague comments around some of the collectives questions. Worse would be if the meeting is used as a deliberate attempt to divide and breakup the fan collective but it would not surprise me if that happened so low is my opinion of Nicholson and the board.
But the fundamental facts are Nicholson, McKay, Lawwell and Desmond's positions at Celtic are untenable. Given it was probably Lawwell but regardless I highly doubt they will even engage with anything in regard to who the backstabber is that did the hit piece on Rodgers and when is he being fired.
Most fundamentally though it is clear that Nicholson, McKay, Lawwell and Desmond have no ambition for Celtic to grow and become a legitimate force on and off the field at European level and as such there will be no acknowledgement from them that they need to resign/sell up because their policy is one of austerity and holding Celtic back and maintaining their positions and power.
But again at least this is a step in the right direction and we will have a better idea of where we are at in terms of getting rid of the people who currently are holding us back as a club and even stabbing our own manager in the back in terms of the hit piece on Rodgers.

  14. I don't even really want answers to the 7 questions or anything else at this point. I just want change personally..

I hope they get it stinking at the meeting and it ramps up afterwards at games..

These aren't one offs. It's been ongoing for years this self sabotage * and complete disdain for the support..

  15. This is it exactly. This isn't about this summer this is about a board and owner who have been running the club backwards for years and deliberately holding us back.

  16. Disagree, the point of the silent protests were fir the board to communicate and answer the questions put..

This is just the start and we need to stay united. The board will like fail to provide the answers required, then we go again..

The absolute positive is, we now have a 'Collective' that draws the best it can from all factions of our support, thats in its infancy yet has already forced the board into action..

We've been crying out for this for years.

  17. Meeting on Monday will be interesting after this result

  18. The only acceptable resolution is a restructuring of the club and Nicholson's resignation. The * has neutered us this season with his incompetence.
