Excellent retort from CT to the ongoing Lawell gaslighting

Speaking via the Celtic Trust website, well-known Hoops activist Jeanette Findlay said: "The Chairperson’s (Peter Lawwell’s ) gaslighting of fans in relation to Celtic’s 24/25 financial accounts indicates the level of contempt for fans and how out of touch the board and current custodians are with the source of their revenues.

"It is important that the custodians of Celtic Football Club (including Desmond, the executives and the non-Executives on the Board of Directors) understand that Celtic fans have more than the single objective of maximising short-term profits.

"This impacts on the European football coefficient and that makes it much more difficult for Celtic (assuming we win the domestic league) to qualify for UCL this season due to the increased number of qualification games; hence, will reduce our revenues in future years.

"The fans want to maximize several objectives including the quality of the football team, fan engagement and long-term financial stability.

"All the above need well thought out short, medium, long term commercial and football strategies supported by up-to-date structures and process, e.g. a Director of Football and a football committee that feeds back to the Board.

"The Celtic fans' objectives include Celtic having the highest possible quality football team not just for domestic dominance but also for progression within European football competitions, an independent fan advisory board that provides effective stakeholder formal feedback and stadium redevelopment with increased capacity that will enhance both fan experience and revenues.

"The Chairman’s statement does nothing to address these sensible and reasonable objectives or any information on how they plan to achieve them.

"Meanwhile, we appear to be employing, at great cost, a lawyer who cannot negotiate deals and an accountant who cannot save us tax. What do we pay them a bonus for?"

It won't be just the board, the media will take every opportunity to show us in a bad light. They have already claimed it is because of one transfer window etc, that we're spoilt and 'entitled', that we just grumble for the * of it and should be grateful to their beneficial connections within the boardroom. They choose to misrepresent us, they claim to understand us yet peddle misinformation, they blatantly lie about the cause and reasons behind it. In fact they use anything and everything to the detriment of our fanbase as per usual. We have very few friends in the media. This battle has to be fought on many fronts, not only the reptiles and vipers we know but those invisible enemies within awaiting their time to strike. When the show themselves, REMEMBER them. We must be aware and act accordingly. The board and media propaganda must not prevail. It will be hard but our voices should be the loudest and heard the longest. Sing from the stands 'Back the team, Sack the board.'

New store opening Wednesday at the old Next on argyl/queen Street.

Tell you what, a protest outside that as it opens would be a good idea.

Clubs trying to big it up and tempt more money out of the fans, protest outside it for a bit could get decent attention.

I still have many doubts, misgivings and reservations about this campaign, it's objectives, how it's going to go about it, who stands to benefit, and even if all of their wildest dreams come true, what then? What are the long term inplications? And what pros and cons from the de-stabilization it would bring?

I know this is not what people on here are wanting to hear, but these are questions everyone should be asking before setting out on this potentially ruinous path.

I've previously stated some of my specific doubts and reservations and why I could not and would not support a vote of no-confidence, and nothing that has been presented or has been reported back from these meetings since has changed that. I realize this is not the current popular opinion, but it needs to be said, if nothing else, someone needs to play devil's advocate in this, because it really feels like these are important details and questions that are not being considered.

Think its obvious what we're trying to achieve and what's required.

We don't operate like an elite minded club.

We're in drastic need of modernisation, virtually every transfer window is shambolic. It was just masked with automatic CL Qualification the last few seasons.

We need fresh blood and ideas in the boardroom. Fresh eyes on our whole footballing structure.

The removal of Peter Lawwell, there's far too much distrust there.

The removal of Nicholson, who is clearly incompetent.

We need them to stop taking us for granted and we need some sort of voice on the board/fan advisory group. Who they need to engage with on a regular basis and explain the Clubs vision and decision making. Improve the match day experience.

As well as trying to unite fans with shares, that may have been lost when relatives have passed away. To help create a fan voting block, through the Celtic Trust.

You're an intelligent man, what is it you don't like? Seems glaring to most of us.

So then what is you want to happen

The board to continue the utter contempt towards fans

Continue making jokes about the Huns at AGM meetings for a laugh

Failure to spend properly in transfer windows

As long as we win trophies who gives a * eh

It's fans like that that have enabled the board to continue holding our club back. Yes, we have been successful domestically however, we have failed miserably in Europe and we only need to look at clubs similar or even smaller than us like USG, Brugge, Pafos etc and how they have continually improved through the good management and running of their clubs from top to bottom. So, if those fans are happy with mediocrity then let them sit on their arses and do nothing but, if our fans want to see change, then ignore the happy clappers and let the protests begin. Fecking Hail Hail

These comments and posts on social media is why we need a united group to drive the call for changes.

For years too many fans think it's just knee * to a bad result and the board assume it as well and have gotten away with so much neglect of the football club because enough fans clap away at the first sign of a domestic pumping to a Ross county or the likes.

No one is thinking we change the entire board with Dave and Bob from down the pub.

We want changes that bring in people with merit to run a sporting club, who that is I personally can't tell you, but in part that is what the group may come to, but even if they don't, just forcing the current board to shake things up in a modern way is maybe enough.

We can't simply continue to sit by as we go season after season regressing in Europe, squandering money and not fully realising out footballing ambition as a club.

Domestic success is one thing, it's great, but our benchmark isn't to be better than rangers and hearts.
Out benchmark is to be competitive in European competitions.
Not a single fan can surely say they are happy with the investment in the club/squad (not just in raw transfers, but in coaching, academy, recruitment, everything), and where we stand in European football, knowing year after year we stumble lower in the European sphere.

I grew up during their corrupt nine in a row, and I don't understand the happy clappers from that time.

Surely you'd want them to suffer like we had to? That means getting the full potential out of the club.
