    I disagree. Completely.

I'm also glad the Club are handling the money I and many others pump into the Club responsibly.

I think you've misconstrued the reality of the situation. If Celtic sign him on a pre-contract there is no scope for Dundee United to accept any bids from anyone.

    He's better than Forrest.

That will be the money I pump in also then eh. They handled it well in the summer. We are talking about 250k mate, not millions here. For someone who would be our best wide option in my opinion, and a position we badly need filled, right now I might add.

It's a shame Johansen is so guff in a deeper role in midfield.

It would be great to have him and Brown at the base. Forrest on the right, GMS on the left and Stokes behind the striker.

Hopefully we get him to sign the pre contract and can then pay a reduced fee to Utd ,the board are playing it smart here. As usual :86:

I get what you mean but Johansen is excellent in the hole and Stokes works very well with Izzy down the left.

Nowhere near as good as Samaras so it's a downgrade on our last proper left winger, but he will be an upgrade on Boerrigter and Tonev who have offered virtually nothing since being here.

If Deila see's him as a first choice winger and the quality that is required then I doubt we'll be seeing much Champions League football back at Celtic Park. But that's harsh based on one signing, will need to see who else Deila brings in, but GMS is not a player that I can see doing much in Europe for us.

It's a signing I would expect this type of manager to make, a winger who is more about entertaining than actually being effective. Not that that's me being overly critical because entertainment is important, but you should really get a solid team built before you start to add flair to the team.

He's inconsistent with Dundee Utd so he'll inevitably be inconsistent with us, but then that's the case with most wingers so not the worst criticism that can be aimed at him.

The aim is to get us back in the Champions League, so the main question is - Will this signing improve us in Europe? And that is a no for me sadly. Not that he can't be useful for us domestically but he's not a player that is going to improve us to an extent where it would make much of a difference.

He is a freebie though, so I suppose there is no real harm in signing him. If it doesn't work out then there will be no real big financial loss so that's a positive.

If he is going to improve our team just now, then that ultimately means he will improve us in Europe. He is better than any wide option we currently have in my opinion.

Right attacking mid, much better player than McGregor. Bring him in asap, good signing.

How many season tickets do you think £250,000 is?

Aye you and many others, as I said.

Forget how many season tickets it is for a minute. We sold Forster & Tony Watt in the summer for £11.2m. Take away 20% that we assume Newcastle were to receive for Forster and it still amounts to £8.2m. That money should be used to bring in players Ronny Deila wants. So far, he has been allowed to spend £2.2m, and with another pay day it would appear looming with Van Dijk, we are sitting fairy comfortably financially. Why not spend the 250k on a player that will come in, and in my opinion, be a first team regular, and improve the current team. We have plenty big games ahead of us, and it's a position we badly need to fill, as the wingers we have at present, whether it be with injuries or ability, are falling short I think. Another thing, would be that it would allow him to settle into the team ahead of CL qualifiers, when there is a small matter of £15-20m at stake. So is it worth the risk of 250k, for me, it's a no brainer, of course it is.

Why not spend 250k on a player?

Because it will take less than that to get him, which is my entire point :56:

Has a pre-contract been signed? Nothing concierges so far. Until that happens my hypothetical situation is valid.

Also, bear in mind, Utd would much rather sell to a club down south than give one of their rivals a player. There is every possibility that a team could swoop in before any contract is signed.

But I hope you are right. Getting him in the summer is better than not at all. But we badly need wingers now. £250k seems worth it to give us a better chance against Inter or of winning the treble.

Cherry pick a part of my post, and ignore the reasons why I said we should spend it and bring him in :50:
