Offer 2.5 Million Armstrong and get GMS now and I think that would be good business.

More I think about this, the more it makes sense. We know he can do it in the league so won't need time to adapt. He's cheap and low risk. And he plays a position where we lack players and would be someone exciting to watch. Best of all though, he's a winger who's not going to spent half the season on the injury table. Why not pick him up

Well, well, Pete will probably be trying to line up another loan deal for this.

    "Whit? They want actual money?".

After the dosh weve * away on Derk, Pukki, Balde, etc........millions. 250k pales in comparison to the cash weve spunked on unproven wage burning failures.

    * get the dosh out. Get Armstrong as well.

It's strange how we're eager to splurge on unknown foreign identities and then quibble over a few pennies when it comes to homegrown talent.

I'm fed up of overlooking Scottish talent in our own league for * in leagues abroad.

Would be a signing that lacks ambition, average player and no where near the quality we need.

See if we spend in Scotland, does that just not help the Scottish game!!! The Scottish game that is 'struggling'!! Or are we seen as monopilising , ie the opposition gets weaker cause we buy them up. Anyway if they are good we should sign them. We have some dross as young players ourselves!

That's the way I think. We're doing a bayern Munich. They are killing the league by simply buying all the other teams' best players.
But I suppose if they're getting sold and leaving anyway, why can't we buy Scottish talent from this league.
Real problem for me is why aren't we producing enough quality youngsters or giving them they chance they need. Dundee utd have produced 4 or 5 quality players.

I actually think Wakaso is a quality player who hasn't had any luck so far this season, with him going away to the ACoN I don't think that'll change but I don't think he's a bad player.

I don't think he really suits us either though. Him and Izzy get in each others way when they're playing, whereas somebody like Stokes is quite happy to let Izzy run by him and play him in or go off in the opposite direction using him as a distraction.

Henderson looked good at doing that as well. In Europe though Izzy doesn't get up the pitch as much and his work rate going back is excellent, his shooting technique from what we've saw also looks exceptional.

Don't think it'll work out but really, not a bad player.

What are the risks when signing a player?

    1) Is he good enough for us?

He certainly isn't any worse than what we've had in that area. Forrest and Boerrigter are perennially injured, Wakaso doesn't quite fit into the side, Berget has been sent back, Tonev has been banned, McGregor is inconsistent.

    2) Do we need him?

We definitely need someone in that position. Our current wingers are a mix of under-performers, crocks and converted strikers. We need pace higher up the pitch, and someone with something a little different. He gives that.

    3) How much will he cost?

£250,000 is a knock-down fee The gamble is one we can afford to take.

    4? Will he adapt?

Well he is Scottish, and has played in this League for years, so that will be no problem for him. Some players struggle under the pressure of being at a big club, but some thrive. Only time will tell.

    I'm all for it, personally.

Why do we need pace at the top end of the pitch? We never have any room to run in behind, what we need is guile and clever passing. GMS has guile, I'll give him that, clever quick passing though? I'm not too sure.

We do need pace in Europe though, it's a balancing act, isn't it?

I think Mackay-Steven is exactly the type of player we are after if I'm honest. A genuine winger, with pace, a trick, and can score and create. He would fit right into the system, as Dundee Utd play pretty much the exact same formation as we do. Just find it funny when someone says he isn't quality we need, because in all honesty, for me, he would be our best option in terms of wingers we have just now. He is proven in the Scottish game, and I don't think we can lose on this deal. Even if it does take 250k to sign him.
