The only good thing about all this is the fact we are now getting the respect due to us for the squad - while that sadly means departures, it means departures to a good league as opposed to some middle of the road *.

Will enjoy watching Hooper and Wanyama next season.:50:

Had him to score first in that game :icon_mrgreen:

Plus when he got the second, it doubled the odds :bbpd:

Think everyone knew we were going to thump them that day.

Some team we had going then. Hopefully that old midfield can find their form together again.

    That Izzy run too, sublime.

Think qpr offered him 40 and he took a 10 grand pay cut to play in the premier league so 30 grand if that's all spot on

    I must say, I'm gutted.

Wanyama and Hooper leaving is, for me personally, the most devastating transfer window in a long time. Yes we got good money, but I loved those 2 players, Two of my favourite to bare the Hoops in recent years. Both have now moved on to smaller, but ultimately richer English clubs and I wish them all the success in the world. Their success is our success in the sense that it both shows our players ARE Premier League level and shows we do indeed do a good job in nurturing a players talents to their potential. Of course we know our players are EPL quality, but some ignorant so and so's down south seem to doubt it. I'm sure Victor and Gary will prove them wrong.

Now as this thread id about Hooper, I'd like to say that I agree with Lennon, He is the best Striker we've had since King Henrik, The only thing he lacked was aerial ability, other than that he is sharp as a tack. Terrific positional sense, great link up play, quick feet and most of all, the most natural of finishers. Didn't matter who Gary came up against, whether it was St. Mirren Dundee or whether it was Deadco, Udinese or Spartak Moscow, give Gary a chance and he'll bury you! I'll always remember his goals against Rangers, 5 goals in just 7 SPL Glasgow Derbies matches and his 5 against Hearts. 12 in 11 appearances against the mini huns, 9 against Dundee United, 8 against Hibs. Just a born goalscorer.

Aye, that 3-0 game when he scored the double was just magical. Tore them to shreds.

    Agreed.

Looking forward to see what players we bring in before the transfer window closes.

I'm sure a'body will get over it mate - however, i'm with Zander to an extent......."best since Henke" says it all for me in terms of the job we have in front of us to replace the goalscoring threat that has just left the Club.

Guys of Hooper's quality are very rare - especially on a shoestring budget (which it can't be denied we operate on, in comparison to many leagues.)
