He's been pretty poor overall since getting done by Bougherra.

Nowhere near good enough for England.

He went on a run of games where he looked like a worldbeater.

But when the team plays poor, he plays poor. I think he needs a confident team behind him if he has any hope of approaching an England callup.

I don't think Stokes is his best partner either. For all the ranting and raving people do over that partnership it falls down too often.

Carroll is a joke for the money paid.King Kenny will end up with egg on his face for that signing. However, Hooper wont get a look in.Coz he plays in Scotland. And thats probably fair enough to be honest. Im sure capello sees our(All Scottish teams) european adventures and decides not to bother with players from the SPL.Whether or not hes actually good enough is another matter.Id say he might be.But playing up here he'll never get a sniff of a cap.

I don't think he'll get a game in the SPL.

When does it 'fall down'?

From our current squad it is the best partnership, by a gazillion miles.

He isn't yet but he is still very young, doesn't have the experience yet required to really pit himself against a better class of defender. He could be good enough in 2/3 years but he has to be consistent and adapt his play to be able to play a variety of striking roles.

Not yet. But, if he continues to develop & becomes a 30+ a season goal scorer, he will be knocking at Fabio's door in a couple of seasons !!!

I'm completely agree with you Ryan2442. He still needs to progress but, when he will be a regular scorer, he will have his chance :50:

    He's better than Rooney.

    Adam Rooney.

    :icon_mrgreen:

But in all seriousness he's better than Carroll IMO.

Carroll is only in the team to give England another option with his aerial ability.

Not a chance nothing to do with the fact he plays for Celtic but he gets shown up in Europe against better teams

Even though I don't like to see England doing well I'd love to see Gary Hooper playing for England while playing for Celtic. Then England and other countries might take more notice of Celtic and the scottish league and we might be able to attract betterr players if they think they can still play international football.

At the end of the day if you're a good player you're a good player. Shouldn't matter what league you're in.

I prefer him to some of England's current options, but he needs to knuckle down with us, firstly, and keep consistent.
