They’ve been building her flipping for a long, long, time.

It’s exactly what was always going to happen.

    SPOILERS!!!!

Betrayed, in her eyes, by Jon Sansa Tyrion and the baldy guy (Varys or whatever his puss is).

Lost 2 dragons, one fighting for said traitors.

Best pal killed by Cersi, and bodyguard killed by wights.

I agree though, her descent to madness should’ve been explored more but to be fair you can see why she went a bit mental.

Can’t wait for Arya to kill her (she’s the green eyed one I believe, not cersi)

    Just cant get enough
Arya had about 3 buildings land on her and still survived so maybe Cersei isn’t dead yet. Maybe she made it to the boat Tyrion had organised.
It would be another ridiculous twist but think Cersei deserved a better end than she got.
Dany going mad isn’t a ridiculous idea but destroying the whole city and killing everyone in sight when she had won the battle seemed unlikely and extreme.

True but have to give Arya a reason for popping her * in the final episode...killing civilians is as good an excuse as any.

They have hinted at the Targaryen madness (through their inbreeding) earlier in the shows life with Cerei even mentioning it in season 2 and a quote. Dani's Dad is "the mad king" half of them born suffer mental illness and madness due to the inbredding for hundreds of years. It was said again twice during that episode last night-I think- "Everytime a Targaryen is born the Gods flip a coin" Heavily hinting she was going to snap or could snap.

The Dany mad queen turn was accelerated in the last couple of episodes, that’s the problem. In the previous 7 seasons she’s been ruthless but she’s never killed innocent people.

Defend it all you want but there was absolutely no build up to her slaughtering thousands of innocent civilians. None.

The show needed at least one more season so they could gradually show her descent into madness. This season she started off in love with Jon and they’re riding dragons about all cheesy. 4 episodes later she’s massacred a city after they surrendered. It’s * stupid.

Nah, they said last week that Jon and Dany’s armies only lost half their soldiers in the Battle of Winterfell. Half.

Despite there being about 20 * left alive from what we saw.

I agree it could have been portrayed over a longer time.I was just making the point that it wasn't totally unbelieveable. She has flipped her lid.

Everything seems to being rushed now, I think the battle happened too fast too. Somone mentioned it earlier. The one dragon obliterated everything extremely quickly without even taking a single bit of damage. I would have had at least one of the arrows go through a wing or something and made the fight more drawn out. It goes against the logic of previous battles theyve shown.

I still think it was completely unbelievable. She said that episode she would rule through fear.

She’d already scared everyone in the city when her dragon was flying above them. I don’t understand why she didn’t just attack the Red Keep and kill Cersei. Absolutely nobody wouldn’t fear her.

It’s just a shame the way this season has went. It’s already ruined a few characters now and I have zero hope for the finale.

Ah I musta missed that, 2 seasons ago I would have went and had a look for that, now I'm like oh well that makes the poignant part, when all of their flaming swords went out, less so now. So the wind must have blown the flames out on half of them then...
That happened to me once when my birthday cake was taken into the garden i remember :(

Aye would have made more sense to head directly to Cersei in her castle. Destroy the castle and be done with it. She's went mad though as in mentally unstable so could do anything and I don't think is too ridiculous. Especially as the show has used it to have her turn mega heel.

Aye I actually said "I thought they all got wiped out".Looked like just a handful retreated with Jurah. Took away from it and also the moment when Sansa went down into the Crypt and looked over at the Dothraki women(knowing that all their men were gone)

Yeah. Watched it again last night and, like I said before, of all the big deaths, the Hounds was the only one that felt satisfying and completed his character arc.

Just wish their fight actually meant something in the wider plot. But I’m happy enough with how it went.

Only complaint I have is this season should have had more episodes but as for what dany did if anyone seriously believes that came out of the blue and hasn't been built up for years then they've not paid attention.

She's the only character who's got access to the GOT equivalent of nuclear missiles and every instance of her taking power since season 1 has been because she used them and innocent people have suffered because of her desire to rule just because she feels its her birthright.

Now after losing all her closest advisers with some turning against her finding out that the throne she's believed to be owed to her since her brother died actually belongs to the guy she thought she was in love with and with the feeling that even if she took Kings landing then people would still not love her as queen, she decides to use her weapon again like she's always done.

Dothraki sacking Kings landing also makes complete sense since they raped and burnt down an entire village in season 1 when khal drogo decided to attack westeros just for her.

We have been paying attention. She's never before went out of her way to kill innocent people. It's entirely reasonable to think that because she lost a couple of people and her nephew isn't giving her her hole, that doesn't suddenly make her want to slaughter an entire city.

She said last season she doesn't want to be "Queen of Ashes". Last season. So essentially for 5 episodes the Mad Queen character arc has come about. Not since the first couple of seasons. So the "you haven't been paying attention" excuse that a few have peddled is bollocks.

About your last point. The Dothraki doing what they did makes sense. But are we to believe that out of her entire army and allies, including Northmen loyal to the Starks as well don't forget, the only two people who weren't willing to kill soldiers who had already surrendered were Jon and Davos? Really? They are the only two people from the entire army with any morals? Come on.

I have no problem with her becoming the Mad Queen. But it needed another season, at least, of build up. She was normally adjusted in episode 1 of this season, having a wee romantic break with Jon on the dragons. 4 episodes later she's burning and slaughtering thousands of men, women and children. It wasn't earned in the slightest.

In fact, just read this and it sums it up perfectly.

"She was always ruthless and power hungry. She was never a psychotic, carefree mass murderer."
