No I dont. I dont back the MLS at all. Only watched 2 FULL matches of the MLS in the past year. The Final and the all-star match against chelsea.

Not better than any of those for sure.

I would say the level of the lower half of championship. That might be pushing it a lot though. The competitive balance in the MLS screws up comparisons. Probably closer to League 1

We mustn't get carried away on Adu. Believe me, it's a quite different level between the u20 and the championship or even prem league. it's far easier to shine on the u20 stage than on the big one.

many people were kings at u20/u21etc tournies, but they failed on the big stage.

Adu's still unproven. WGS decides if we are gonna try out his abilities.

Says in the BBC gossip column that Celtic are lining up a bid for Freddy Adu.

Never seen him play, don't know if he's any good, apparently he is going to be a big star in the future, so it could turn out a good bit of business when the rich clubs start throwing money at Celtic in a few years time.

Am i right in saying that he cannot sign until he is 18? I'm sure i heard that when Manure were thinking of signing him.

adu's final ball is better than mcgeadys but can't adu also play as supporting striker and center attacking ?

I would like adu as a backup for mcgeady and scott brown.

Hi guys, first post here. I was going to make it in the welcome area but I caught the Adu rumor this morning so I guess this is as good a place as any.

First of all, Adu is NOT a winger. He is awful out on an island by himself. He doesn't have the sustained pace to be good at it and he can't beat loads of guys by himself. What he does have is an amaizing first burst to accelerate past one person, effortlessly almost, and pressure the defense by having to make someone make up for the first person. One on one, he could probably beat the second guy but he prefers to pick out the now open man and play a killer ball.

In MLS, what you have is Americans who have been taught their whole lives that Athleticism=skill. So 1) He is pushed off the ball by one of the most athletically superior leagues in the world and 2) Nobody reads his runs or his passing because he plays in one of the worst tactical leagues in the world. The one time he played on a very technical team, D.C. United, his coach played him as a wingback. Yes, the young withdrawn forward/attacking mid was played as a wingback. A 14-17 year old, undersized, weak wingback.

His poor play is easily chalked up to bad positioning and awful teammates (his team he plays winger for now is easily the worst team in MLS history. They wouldn't fair well even in the English League 2.) So to people that have been watching him for a while, like me, see it as no surprise that with his U-20 teammates, the most technical and tactical savvy americans ever, that he is shining like he is. Oh, and both of the goals we beat Uruguay on last night came off of Freddy's set plays, he's killer at those as well for when Nakamura leaves. Wow that was long, sorry if it was too long ;)
