Can't believe we let him get away for only £1million . Would have made us great money in the USA aswell and could have developed at CP into a superstar

I was talking to a few people who follow the mls about this , they think that benfica is the best move for him as the spl would destroy him , they say he isnt made for the british game .

Freddy Adu has completed his move to Benfica from Major League Soccer.

The 18-year-old was unveiled to the press after completing his move from Real Salt Lake.

The Ghana-born midfielder was delighted to have finalised his long-awaited move to Europe.

"This is a dream for me," he told the Portuguese press.

"I always wanted to play for a great European club and Benfica is a great one.

"In my opinion, Benfica is one of the ten biggest clubs in the world and so I am very enthusiastic.

"I am only 18 and to have the chance to play for Benfica is fabulous."

Found out? You think a player that has done * all in MLS this season hasn't already been found out?

i think your being harsh on benfica there even though im for sporting in portugal.

befica have a great history and are a massive club worldwide, thats fact.

there in the guiness book of records for have the most registered fans worldwide.

plus the guy said it was his opinion,

What a waste of talent this guy was.

He's played 2 league games in 2 years.

You'd have to question his age too.

His problem was that he never linked his futsal-type skills to anything else. He had a horrible tactical understanding, was slow, not particularly strong, had an awful work-rate, and was an awful teammate to have. Coupled with his penchant for drinking every night of the week and it's no wonder it didn't work out. How would his career have been if he had gone to Europe at 14 and was allowed to develop rather than being worshiped for not actually accomplishing anything? I think he actually could have been good.

And the age * is nonsense. I had friends who knew him as kids and he was never particularly bigger, stronger, or faster than anybody else his age. If you listen to his first interviews he obviously sounds like a young teenager.
