If we lose the league this year it will not be Forster's fault. He has already shown he can keep goals out...which is his job.

I'm not going to re-open the can of worms that is that goal :56:

I don't blame him, many others do. The goal today...the Aberdeen player walks past 2 players and manages to strike past another 3. He can't be accountable for others mistakes all of the time.

I was reasonably impressed with Forster last Season but this season so far IMO he has been garbage, so slow and he rarely gets down for a ball. Was really really * off today when it seemed to me he didn't even attempt to get down for Aberdeen's goal. Although I do think the defence should never have let Ryan Jack get the shot as well.

Forster has not done enough this year to justify the number one jersey and there is plenty of evidence that he needs a spell on the bench now. I don't think Zaluska is great but he's better than FF and deserved to be treated better than Lennon who seems to let his heart rule his head when selecting a team.

Making saves is one of the easier parts of a keeper's job. Communication, distribution and handling are crucial and Forster seems poor in all these areas.

Do you not agree though that if the shot is low it'll most likely be a goal? He doesn't get down anywhere near quick enough and sometimes doesn't even dive at all. His commanding of his area is worrying as well.

No, he was left badly exposed but he could have dived for the ball. With his length, there's a good chance that he might have tipped it on to the post, at the very least.

Zaluska is a far more agile more assured goalkeeper. He should be n01 no doubt

He is...strange. Several minutes before the goal, he quickly nicked the ball before an Aberdeen player could head it in. Great reaction, but then doesn't dive when they scored.:43:

agreed, Mulgrews attempted tackle was pitiful, but Mr Slow Puncture

never even stuck a hand out as the ball went past him.

I'm glad someone posted the Rennes video because it only helps Forster.

    Cha
Shouldn't have passed it in the first place, shouldn't have passed it with the weight he did, should have looked at Forster while passing to him and not at everything but, should have heard the goalies shout, should have went back for it as he had momentum and a legendary athletic ability.

    Forster
Maybe shouldn't have come out so far, maybe shouldn't have stood up like a man and taken the blame.

Does everyone blame a striker this much when they give up on a ball that's clearly been hit too far ? Or do people realise the striker knows from running everyday of his life what he can and cannot realistically get too and by not making any attempt he has shown the passer they have not given him a chance.

The Aberdeen goal again those criticizing Forster clearly haven't been in goals much. For instance, my favorite goal in 7's was against one of, if not the best goalie Iv'e played with. An unbelievable shot stopper. bit inside from the wall in my own half, top corner beauty. He came up to me weeks after and was all it was this and that and I said to him straight up, if it wasn't for his defender standing in front of me I know for a fact you would have got to it easy. Iv'e been in that position when in goals and to be honest most of the time I stand there or make a dodgy looking attempt to get their. try saving a penalty with someone standing in front of the penalty taker, have you done that. Now try three people. take a couple and see how you don't need to hit it hard, you don't need to place it very well. The guys standing in front of you have taken care of the need for that.

If you don't know that then you can't have played football recently. I'm sure most who think about the game realise that anyway.

Most people watching the Aberdeen game will realise jack pretty much walked by three players (two plus Ki who basically stood and watched from afar) then managed to get the ball between two players nearly touching shoulders and through the legs of dan. So by my count 7 players made mistakes in the build up not including the time before Jack had the ball. But according to most only one is to blame for the simple fact he didn't give a wee hollywood dive when anyone can see he was given no chance.

    I agree with this

In the first half, he quickly got down to intercept a cross down low then at the goal he never even made an attempt to dive :43:

    YNWA! gets me every time!
the big man is as big a bonbscare as dan! both liabilities without question!

if ya cant see that then i dont know what you can see. he is so clumsy and uncomfortable when the ball is passed to him and for people to say cha shouldnt of passed to him should look at any premier league players or the spanish keepers, they are very comfortable on the ball and get passed to many times in a game and they just pass it out or give it a boot no problem! with big lurch its a heart stopping moment EVERY time!

Put it this way it FF had been beaten by an opposite player the way he was by Cha he would be getting dogs bollocks right now. He should of done better. His footwork and stance was amateurish for a professional goalkeeper.

On that note if we can all see he is uncomfortable with the ball at his feet should players that see him day in day out not know this. Therefore cha an experienced international full back that also played bundesliga football should have dealt with the situation better fist of all he doesn't even look at the keepers positioning plays a ball back within the posts which as a kid playing full back I was always tough if u pass it to the keeper play it either side of the goal just incase and the famous cliche if In doubt kick it out spring to mind.

However I dont solely blame cha as fosters positioning was woeful never should have been that far out. That being said he makes little to no effort in getting back to the ball he could have at least looked to make an effort. But that isnt my only negative for foster for the size of him he doesn't comand his box on 3 occasions against aberdeen I seen him caught between coming for the ball and dropping back onto his line I really don't understand it when he is so big, which gives his defence No confidence.
So what am trying get across is he gives the team no confidence in the air is terrible at best with the ball at his feet, ok he's a good shot stopper but no more that good so I think it's time we give zaluska a chance til january and see what he can do

Are you suggesting his footwork and stance would have been identical for an opponent as it was for his own team mate? :52:

He is 6 foot 6 it isn't hard to see him, why Cha knocked it past him into the bottom corner is anyones guess.

FF is a mid table prem teams third keeper, that in itself tells you he's not Celtic class.

I sometimes say "he's *" when talking to people but that's me being harsh. Fact is he's average He'd be a good number one for teams like Hearts, Ipswitch, Nottingham Forrest and such but we are Celtic and should be setting out standards high.

If we are to win the SPL and do anything in Europe in the next few seasons we need a keeper who is VERY good not just good or average.

We just need to stop all this pish loaning and fork out 30,000 a week on someone who can win us a few games a season.
