if he cant score he should not play up front, his decision making is also very poor, his control is hit and miss as well, he is well built and can hold players off., he can also turn quickly, but is that enough to get a game for celtic, i dont think so!!

    1.5m and i would sell..

i really dont know about him. he is inconcistent in the way that samras is inconcistent i think we need at least another striker even if he is a poachercause fortune cn never be that and i dunno about rasmussan.

I dont think people appreciate the things that Fortune does for the team...he is incredible at staying on the ball, holding off defenders, he's quite pacy and has great skills for a target man and can hit a cracking shot. Even the daft American announcers last night realized that he was giving Jonny Evans *..and Evans is way beyond SPL level. Fortune will never bang in 25+ goals in a season, but if you surround him with a poacher and at least one goal scoring midfielder (since last year we had a ridiculous low amount of goals from midfield) then I think he is one of the most important players in the squad. Plus he thrives in big games.

That's basically what I came in here to say.

Also - 13 goals and numerous assists in his first season which was riddled with injury, press interference, frankly poor attitudes from the fans, not to mention inconsistent tactics and an unsettled formation and strike partner is rather good IMO.

I like Fortune and it would be stupid to punt him after 1 season, give him another 1.

My expectationsare for him to score 25+ goals this season, or he can go out the door

Well we know he plays his best football wide of a 3 upfront or wide of a 4-2-3-1, i think thats what we will be playing this season and samaras and fortune will occupy one of those wide spots of a 3. Should Look something like this with my version of our strongest team.

    Zaluska
    Hinkel Rogne Hoiveld Mulgrew
    Ki
    Juarez Brown Ledley
    New Striker

Tbh there i don't even see room for fortune or samaras in the starting line up. Btw Ki isn't the DM hes a deep lying playmaker thats why he is where he is, both brown and Juarez and even ledley have very good engines and will track runners as well as making attacks and joining up with the striker, if we can get a decent striker in then this will do well.

The message here seems to be if we can get a goal-getter playing as his stirke partner then we'll be fine.No we wont imo if fortune is playin out wide and only Rasmussen is in the box hes not gonna get much goals were gonna need runners from midfeild the only midfeilder that weve got that does that is Ledley like how he wont the penalty vs Man Utd we need to have at least 3 players in the box when the ball is out wide.

    ?????

If his job is to create then he cant do that either 3 assists last season in the league not good enough.....

No football brain to play that role you must be able to see what goes on around you.

That + his poor decision making = please someone buy him off us PLEASE!!!

But if he stays I hope he proves me wrong but I doubt it. :54:

Not good enough imo especially if we are looking at playing on his own on occasions , finding him a partner could also be a problem Ras , skippy , sammy and keane all struggled up front with him Rassmusen shone when he played alongside keane , If a bid in excess of 2m came in I would take it in a minute

i'm not sure about this one. Never liked Fortunes style, I think he's to slow when holding the ball.

I think he'd do well alongside a good goal scorer, I think he showed signs of that with Robbie keane. Although I don't think ras is that man.

I think we either need fortune to play off a goalscorer or have ras playing with one

I was thinking of him lately.
It really seems that he is NOT good enough to play for us.
25+ Goals in next season ? You got to be kidding.
Okay, he is a strong type of player and he can hold a ball for us, block a defender behind him and then do a turn a shoot. Okay, he is doing that brilliantly. But let's face it....that's the only good thing about him.
He's predictable, his passing accuracy is low and he seems to be slow-thinking sometimes. Not mentioning that his shots are very *. He kicks the ball in the easiest way, harder than better, no rotation, no control. HOW MANY TIMES we have seen him being in the box around 6 meters and miss ? We did see quite few of shots like this. He is becoming greedy as *, everytime he hits the ball hard as he can from whatever position he is in and almost everytime his shot goes wide or high or it goes straight to a goalkeeper, RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE, exacly where he is standing.
Yeah, we had those 2 screamers from him but let's face it....he isn't good enough to be a Celtic player. We should be building back the massive team, the legendary team.
Celtic needs to join the top teams in the world. We are not going to do that with Fortune.
To be honest, I Can't see we do anything with Fortune, nor getting the SPL win, nor a good performance in CL.
I hope Lenny will sell him to Championship for 2m and bring someone like Bellamy.
BTW, Murphy is in Celtic, right ? Who is he ? He's record is 10 times worst than Fortunes. How can striker get only 10 goals in 110 games ? What is he doing in Celtic along with Fortune ? That suppose to be that massive team that is going to win the league and fight in CL ? I think that if we will not have a big striker coming in...then we already lost the title again. Hope I will be wrong.

He was showing signs of promise , towards the end of last season. I Feel if he could Keep that up, then we could be on to something. Also he would work well in a barca-esk 4-3-3.
    ------------Crosas
    ------Juarez------Ki/Ledley
    Fortune---------------Samaras/Maloney
    -----------Rasmussen
This would also work however with more natural wingers playing in Samaras & Fortunes role. For tighter Games, Allowing more defensive tracking back. (Sorry off Topic.)
Fortune's Skill at chesting down the ball , and out musseling the man is amazing, and i do feel if he got a better understanding with the rest of the team then maybe we're onto something good.
Saying that, you offer me someone else, who can simply just score, i'd take them.

Far too greedy to be a lone-striker or a strike-partner.For a man of his size and power he CANNOT jump and CANNOT win a ball in the air.Decision making at times is non-existent and we all know he is never going to be a prolific goalscorer. However he does have positives...fast, powerful and can hit a mean shot!

Hopefully Fortune will now realise what it takes to play for a top team and will feel more settled and up to the task. He has a really good combination of top quality attributes such as physicality, pace, mobility, touch, shooting power and is also good in the air. He played very well against Rangers last year and they had no answer to his physical strength. However he needs to bring all of these qualities to the table every week and put his mark on games, not just show glimpses of them now and again. Definately keep him and push him hard to ry and get the best out of him. He might not be a great finisher but he will easily score 20 up here if he hits form!

Yeah ,i like to see strikers in the box or that area ,not doing the donkey work out in the wings ,Strikers should be on the end of crosses etc not delivering them.

Just watched the Sounders game, He was mince up front when he came on, Hes lazy, greedy and when he decides to run....its away from the play. his passes were overhit. He'll need to get it sorted NOW or theres no point playing him.
