yeah, maybe 20 was a bit of an exaggeration.ill have to get off the glue:icon_mrgreen:

i would have played him up front with a hartson/sutton type player...(someone,good in the air and could finish)....we just never signed the right player to play with him imho...

remember,in one season with wba in the premiership he became a fans favourite winning their player of the year....celtic at the time weren't the only team in for him and it was seen as a bit of a coup.

a lot of celtic fans imho, didnt appreciate his work off the ball which is every bit as important as putting the ball in the net....its a TEAM sport after all..

just think the big man got an unjust hard time!

    good luck to the fella.

1 goal every 4 games according to Celtic. I'd rather trust their stats than wikipedia's or the likes. 1 in 4 is a joke. I mind all the stick JVOH used to get on here. Only his stats were a goal every 2 games or so.

Agree totally with this man :50:

Best post i've read on here on ages, Like you I think our Future will be built upon a strong youth development policy, we cant compete financially with Europes big guns, but we can become the Ajax of Scotland through bringing through and creating our own superstars.........

Bit like the James Forrest Vs Vladimir Weiss situation, where I was glad we decided to stick with one of our own rising stars and give him the experience to develop here at Celtic rather than spend over the top for another short term fix.

This summer we've picked up a few good signings, without paying over the odds. So with a good scouting system and a good youth academy/development squad, No need to keep spending a FORTUNE........

I'd guess we got our money back - essentially a season or so's loan & obviously any outstanding appearance fees are now null & void.

Anyway that's my take on it from what I can read between the lines, it's never disclosed...it wasn't ever disclosed what we paid for him either.

Anyway he's pish & I'm glad he's gone - even Sammy is better.

I know what you mean. The problem is most of our forward players are in this slightly deeper and wider role. Last week we had 3 of them against StMirren and I said we need a proper winger and a real goal scorer and sammy fortune and maloney can fight it out for the withdrawn role.

Some of the comments made about him are a disgrace imo.

Why was he a dud? His goal-scoring record?

When he was signed, Mowbray said it wasnt for his goals, it was for bringing others into play & his hold up play.He was injured for a bit last season, played out wide for most, 12 goals is good imo for him, he has never been prolific.Just needed a chance.

Almost 4mil for this guy and tbh he is and never will be any better than Sammi or Skippy. Didnt like him atall and most of the time he was pretty poor. A 12 goal return for a 4mil forward must surely be considered a failure. good luck big man and thanks for what you did for us but I'm glad to see the back of him tbh, only we MUST sign another striker before the window shuts. We only have 2 fit strikers left now. So glad that I am that he is gone, the timing is abit poor from Lenny I must say.

I totally agree with the negative comments on his goal scoring etc but I couldn't help but like him. He never feigned injury and struck me as a thoroughly decent bloke unlike some in the spl, good luck to him, I wish him no ill!!!

he was signed to win us games and score goals, lets face it with a price tag of 3.8m we all wanted someone who could win us games when we where 1 nil down and playing bad, and this did not happen, again he had his chance everyone could see he was not good enough

also when mogga said oh he is not a goals scorer alarm bells where ringing in my ears why pay all that for a forward, and he played him as a ST to start off with and kept our top goal scorer on the bench (McDonald) he did not look anything great at west brom in my eyes and celtic fans never said anything cause mogga was a celtic man

facts are he failed to deliver 3.8m for what 12 goals and what did we win? * all

i don;t think i am the only one who thinks this but we could have got a better player who would have scored us goals for 3.8m or even out on the right he was still in my eyes * poor

paid too much and never cut it in the big games

Certainly not a bad player but have to admit not worth £3.8m either.

Don't think he'll be a big loss out of the team.
