I think that Fortune always gave his 100%. ((except for last night.)) I didn't think he was a bad player, but I think we could have done better. There's been much worst signings, though.

I personally think that when played out wide he pulled defenses all over the place and created goal scoring opportunities, which is why Mowbray probably signed him to play in his system.

Lenny obviously has other ideas and decided to cash in. Not a bad player, rather labelled wrongly as an out and out striker.

Good luck to the big guy. :50:

The price on his head when he arrived was probaly a burden to him ,it adds pressure to perform as a 4 million pound player which he wasnt ,he was a big buy in Celtic terms but i thought he was ok but wasnt a striker or a winger ,strange one.

Was a bit gutted but at the end of the day he was a striker forced wide right as he wasnt doing it up front.

I'd rather have a natural wide right player out there.

    Best of luck

Apart from some brief flashes Fortune never really got it done at Celtic. Especially given we paid 3.8m for him things just never really worked out.For us to pay out that fee we needed Fortune to be a dominant player at least in the spl and he simply never reached that level.
Clearly he has ability but we have plenty of decent wide players and he just doesn't score enough goals when playing up front. Good luck to him at West Brom. At least we got about 2.5m back but again clearly thats Mowbrays failures last year hurting us still more to the tune of about 1.3m more if those numbers are close to being correct.

I don't think he was an out-&-out striker at all. He was a player who could score goals but played better in a slightly wider deeper position - like Podolski. I always feel it misses the point if someone says he failed as a striker, the modern game has plenty of examples of players like this.

I till thought he could do a job for us, but his move to West Brom is not a disaster - hope he does well there. :shamrock:

i dont know what people expect now, Celtic CANNOT compete with the majority of teams in europe due to money constraints. an out an out CL or Europa Cup striker is pushing it imo because we play under an association with no direction which means we are constantly going to be let down because we expect another Larsson or Hartson and unless world football drastically changes we better get used to where we are atm. Chin up lads and ladies because i feel with our youth investment we actually have players on our books which can help with out future, we cant afford superstars but theres no reason we cant create our own.

It's a pity, he was starting to look good playing out wide in the couple SPL games we played so far. But if the funds are used to sign a proper striker then it's a good deal all round.

Woulda sold Samaras before i woulda sold Fortune.

Fortune scores the same amount of goals as Samaras but the vital difference is that he creates goals while Samaras does not.

With Hooper injured and Rassmussen away, it's Murphy's time to prove he's good enough.

does that mean we'll get 2 new strikers now ? at this rate we'll have a whole new starting 11. just needa get ridda brown fs and were a whole new team. FAN * TASTIC. same old story. Mowbary did the same and got us nowhere. the only thing is, lenny's signings look alot better than TM's !

I'm sad to see him go. An enigma of a player with the ability to do something great or something crap. I'm sure there is a manager out there that will get the best out of him. Good luck Marc! :50:
