Why not. He scored our opener and won the penalty that got us our second. Yes he could have played better as well but credit where it is due for * sake.

He was also in about most of the good stuff we done tonight, few and far between as it was.

He's the last person I would be having a go at tonight.

Not singling him out. Just felt on the whole he was pretty pish.

In general we were average. Armstrong, Stokes, Commons all pretty anonymous.

I see no reason for Forrest to start ahead of Mckay-Steven though. Same with that Scotland squad...for him to be called up ahead of Armstrong, Griffiths and GMS is an insult.

Forrest is a very limited player, IMO of course.

No it is now Forrests place to lose. I expect him and GMS to push each other hard. That is the beauty of good squad depth. it is now fashionable to rip on Forrest. I dont know where this has come from but its not right.

Also i am disturbed at how much i am agreeing with dealer these days

Time will tell. If he doesn't prove you wrong it wont be for a lack of talent that's for sure.

I said a few weeks ago that if he can stay fit until the end of the season, get 6 or 7 games under his belt, full pre season then we will see the best of Forrest next campaign.

I don't think it is his to lose at all but fair enough. I'd still have GMS in ahead of him every time.

It's not fashionable. It's just some people finally waking up and realising he isn't infact all that great. We've been hoping for him to become the player we wished for 5 year now. Getting boring.
We have been saying that for a good few years now though, Sean.

Should have buried that shot in the first half.

Difference is, he hasn't had a pulled muscle in over 6 months now. By July that will be 10 months.

That is when he needs to kick on and I believe he will.

I fear one more setback will be a right kick in the balls though.

Well he has scored some very important goals for us lately and was on the scoresheet again tonight so he should keep his place until his performance dips and GMS deserves to come back in. He has taken up Sammys mantle of the new whipping boy and i dont like it

If he can kick on and really go 20+ games playing consistently then fair enough I look forward to it but I'd honestly be hugely surprised.

As I said, Deila seems to really like him and I think sees him as a bit of a project.
He was getting criticised because he was constantly injured and wasn't playing well, that's entirely fair.

Alot of recent stick was surrounding that penalty incident as well which for the most part was also fair as it showed a lack of professionalism. For him to go and take possibly the worst penalty you'll see for a while just topped it:smiley-laughing002:

He won the penalty himself and was buzzing after putting us out of sight a few minutes earlier, it was a rush of blood in a cup final and he has hit and scored them before for us ie Ajax at home. So he had every right to hit wan.

Your argument kind of proves my point aswell because you are focusing on him missing a penalty when we were cruising and omitting the fact that it was his goal that put us there.

As for his injuries anyman who has ever had one will know to be kind to the lad. It's not easy to rehab yourself back and that includes getting your head right aswell

Just making a point which many others had made. I * hate seeing players moan and argue like that, one of the things that annoys me about him as well.

You obviously rate him, which is obviously fair enough and I could see why.

For me though he is incredibly limited. His biggest attribute is his pace which he doesn't even use effectively enough with the constant cutting inside *. If he had a good shot on him then fair enough but he doesn't. The way he lines up to take a shot from outside the box you can already tell it's not going in. There was an example of that tonight.

Long term we could do better looking elsewhere for me and as Sean hinted at, one more long injury lay-off and it surely has to be that for his Celtic career.

Should have scored and won the pen.

Oh wait he did.. Why would you focus on a missed chance rather than his goal and assist?

Some people just want to have a go at the guy, no matter what :smiley-laughing002:

Tbf he was absolutely woeful in the first half. Tesselar had him in his back pocket.

Forrest has been mince for nearly two years now. A few goals in games where he has been otherwise fairly anonymous doesn't change that. I would have GMS ahead of him every day - more threatening, more direct, more skillful and he's scoring as well.

Most of the criticism he gets is unwarranted, it's almost as if some want him to do badly.
