i know quite a few of the lads who sit in my section ( 112 ) like to wave the flag of palestine for their own political beliefs, however, now that we have an isreali playing for us ,and what a player he looks too, will the fans who fly this flag put their own beliefs aside to make this guy feel welcome to the celtic family. i for one would like this guy to stay for quite a while if what i have seen of him is his normal game. is it too much to ask for what looks like a possible fans favourite not to see these in the stands. thoughts please.
ps. i'm not having a go. i just wouldn't like the guy to feel uncomfortable.

he is actually an arab israeli, so i dont think a palestinean flag would be taken the wrong way by him, just my thoughts

I am one who doesnt believe in all the flags n rebel songs nonsense i dont have any problem with people if thats what they wanna listen to or sing but i hate marches and all that and these things are similar to me although kayal may not care one way or another but its definately ab idea that as fans we consider these things and the effects they may have on players who play for our club just my opinion

I don't mean it that way, McCourt is From N.I, but won't see the Red Hand as His National Flag for obvious reasons, same as Kayal, from Israel but is a Palestinian or Israeli arab, how can he find the palestinian flag offensive? -

Home games are once a fortnight, fans have got the other 13 days to voice their political beliefs, there's no need for it at a football match of any kind and I'm not just talking about the Palestinian flag.

Maybe some people feel the way the Palestinians have been downtrodden and backed into a corner for all these years without the western national community to stand up for them is ridiculous, and the also may be able to see through the political bullshit the U.S and Israel feed people to keep them "onside", two words spring to mind, Money talks!
Showing support by a flag or football top in an arena like parkhead may be the only voice someone has to air his / her views, I dont think there is anything wrong with it, it's peacefull protest.Last edited by a moderator: Aug 26, 2010 -

Don't buy it for a minute, if these people actually cared they'd work out a way to protest or fund-raise for the cause on their own time, but I'll take a guess and say most of them probably don't do anything of the sort, waving a flag a parkhead is the extent of their dedication. We hardly live in a country where you aren't free to speak out, to suggest parkhead is the only place they can be heard is ridiculous.
People need to stop bringing outside politics into our football club. -

Not really the red hand of ulster is on the official ulster flag and the badge of county Tyrone so its not offensive at all.If your thinking of the Northern Irelnad flag then yes but the red hand isnt offesnsive at all. -

I get what you're saying and to an extent agree, but never the less, if someone is spotted in the crowd during a European match, say, wearing a Palistine football top, with a worldwide TV audience, may just let these people know that the world is watching and some people actually care, you could stand in George square for months on end and not reach the same number of people a very brief moment caught on camera at Paradise could.
This doesn't reflect on the club, just that person, it is not just politic's, it's also showing compassion -

You're all basing your opinion on what facts exactly? You're assuming he wouldn't have a problem yet have no real idea of where he was born and raised and where he's lived his life. Maybe he'd be genuinely offended seeing the Palestinian flag bearing in mind he's an Israeli national and plays for the Israeli national team :rolleyes:
