    @Taz @T.S. Eliot

    Just a bit of a coincidence but there's an article in the Guardian about the two of them collaborating for 30 years and Twin Peaks Laura Palmer's Theme taking 20 minutes to write. Top composers are really something else not matter what the genre, it's amazing. You often hear of great popular music being written in almost the time it takes to perform it.

    What I like about the Lynch story and Twin Peaks theme is Lynch just tells him to image he's all alone in the woods so he starts playing and Lynch says thats perfect but make it slower, now picture a teenage girl coming out in destress so he just take to them into more dynamic feeling higher up the keayboard. After 20 minutes Badalamenti says to Lynch we'll I'll to work on that right away and hopeully capture the mood you're after. No No don't alter a note! It's perfect I just seen Twin Peaks. And it really was perfect cause few theme tunes suited their TV shows as well as that. Anyway I'll post it and hopefully it's not too large for the thread.

    I'd believe it. Ennio Morricone was very similiar in that he literally just writes down music already finished in his head, without touching an instrument. The director, Barry Levinson (Rain Man, Good Morning Vietnam, Wag the Dog etc) made mention of this in an article in the NY Times.

    Back to the David Lynch/Angelo Badalamenti/Twin Peaks story though, Julee Cruise definitely deserves a bit of a shout of for her vocals on some of the songs from TP also. Badalamenti's music and Lynch's lyrics delivered by Cruise were just magic together. Any of the Roadhouse scenes were made so much more atmospheric because of their collaborations.
