Lennon should have been sacked and maybe even a caretaker put in, but it makes sense that the DOF should appoint the first team coach.

New CEO and DOF will hopefully stay for a good few years, then if a coach moves on (and let's face it most good coaches will look to move after a two or three seasons) there's longterm stability.

This season is unforgiveable, with the board inaction and surrender of the title.

However, with such big changes its paramount we take time to get them right and now the season is done, we have a little time to ensure we take the right direction.

Lennon should still be relieved of his duties don't get me wrong as he's making any rebuild more difficult but it's more important our rebuild is done properly and professionally.

CEO in place, DOF to follow soon and new coach, should be quite exciting times but its difficult to get excited about a rebuild whilst Lennon is still in post.

They'll know if each other for sure, not sure how close they will have gotten considering the short time they will have played together.

The connection is most certainly within the higher ups corridors though.
Harkin, Desmond, his son will all clearly be knowing each other for sure.
McKay maybe had brushed shoulders with them as well for a few years. Celtic as an operation will definitely have been talking with the SRU over the last few years as we have often looked towards rugby for comparisons in certain aspects around marketing and dealing with politics etc.

I'm just hoping these incoming guys are all a good 20-25 years younger than bankier, lawwell and although they may have social interactions with the head guy, they are all in it for the same modern sporting future.

It's one thing giving a job for the boys (Strachan, Kennedy, Lennon) over dumb sentiment.
It's a different thing if you're getting in your mates who also actually have track records at the high end of sports.

We need harkin(or similar for dof), McKay, Desmond(jr), and an Eddie Howe type manager in.

That would he a big switch in approach and outlook to football operations and would signal s strong structural change.

If they pull this off before (at least officially announcing) renewal date, Celtic will get the fans back on board, imo.

But if they leave it as rumours and unknowns, a lot are going to still he very sceptical. We've been burnt many times before with false hopes and dawn's.

Pals with Lawwell and Desmond’s sons.

Everything is so incestuous with this club.

Next manager will no doubt be a golfing buddy of Desmond’s.

Makes me very nervous in all honesty.

Relying on personal connections is no way to run a multi-million pound business. Our first port of call should never be ‘I know a guy’.

I'm guessing our boards reply would be..

"It's not like we know a guy that knows a guy, we actually know this guy".

If he's the one that's been bringing the young city players to them then I'm a lot more optimistic about this appointment than I was when I heard he was a mate of the owners son. Obviously a bit different convincing players to join us than it is to get them to city but I like the idea of those types of players coming in to us on permanent deals rather than loans.

Fergal worked for Nike before he joined City, where he looks after and reports on their players out on loan. He grew up near where I live and is a normal decent guy. He was very limited as a player but got the most out of his career. I doubt he will arrive at Celtic thinking he’s all big balls and having grown up in Donegal he will at least know what Celtic is all about. Good luck to him if he arrives.

Can’t help but think if we do hire him it’ll be another excuse to keep the current manager. With all the excuses about Covid, no fans etc we will be told this guy is here to help our manager.

Which may be why Lennon is still in charge. Hard to imagine as well if this is true that who they want as manager has not been part of the discussions because as said above the manger and DOF need to be on the same page.
