There is no chance of me convincing you to check out movies from the 30's through to the 50's then :giggle1: I'm gutted though that you feel like that, you really are missing out on some amazing films that have totally defined cinema and the art of movie making.

The more I haven gotten into older movies the deeper I have dug into them, and there really is literally a goldmine of movies there waiting to be discovered. I'm actually jealous of people who get to watch The man who shot Liberty Valance for instance for the first time.

The thing is they will always be there and you might one day feel like checking some out. Totally disagree though about them not ageing well but that is all personal opinion I suppose.

Absolutely agree. Some fantastic movies out there from 1930s onwards.
M, with Peter Lorre is just brilliant.
    The Informer with Victor McLaglen.
Are just two of my favourites. Like to watch Robert Mitchum or Robert Ryan in particular.
In fact, watching Gunga Din with McLaglen, Grant & Fairbanks Jr as I type. Classic.

Jeez mate, some fantastic films in the 60s of many genres. Great Escape, Bullitt, Butch Cassidy, Graduate, Midnight Cowboy just off the top of my head.

This scene is one of the most iconic of the 1930s movies

Gunga Din absolutely fantastic thats got me thinking about Carey Grant now, Arsenic and Old lace :giggle1: Will need to get the two of them watched again as it has been awhile.

Totally agree man Robert Mitchum oozes * coolnes, he'd kick your * and you'd feel obliged to thank him for it.

Those people you mention and many others of that era really have a commanding presence on screen that completely holds your attention, I feel that many actors of today are completely lacking in this. Maybe thats my own personal bias, but you ask an actor to play Captain Ahab in a modern adaptation of Moby * and I can absolutely guarantee none will ever come close to being as good as Gregory Pecks performance in the 1956 adaptation.

I love all of Joe Pesci's scenes tbh, in Casino and Goodfellas.

Jack Nicholson gives one of finest performances in this movie, imo.
