There are a ton of people on here who understand the quarterback reference. Sammy has the talent and frame to be a successful footballer. He also has the club at heart and would run through a brick wall though it would probably look just as languid as everything else he does.

He's his own critic and has never looked content to not be helping the cause.

What he does not do is fit the Scottish conception of the fire and brimstone, brawling footballer. I'm comfortable with that as I think his style can bring something different to Celtic that other teams lack.

He can be inconsistent but he can be the best man on the park. Frankly, Celtic are not in a position where they can reject players like that. The best thing to do is to attempt to coax the best out of this talented player.

Either that or we can scream him off the pitch and wonder why his confidence is shot. Then complain that ''this miseraba * in the hoops can't play fitba worth *" If someone showed up at ur job and yelled such tripe at you, would u be at all motivated to do anything extra for them? Would your job performance maybe suffer a bit?

 

apparently some others know the term too. for you, my friend, I'll use the word playmaker and give you even a link to look it up (just in case).

as already pointed out Fritzl is Austrian not Swiss. your post doesn't only show your nice manners, it also indicates your smartness.

 

Sammy is great. When played more in his natural role--either as a winger or behind the striker--he does well, and he contributes even as a striker in a 4-4-2. His games to goal ratio is decent and he sets up a lot of play. People are far too harsh on the big man, probably because he's not Irish.

He is inconsistent, but were he a consistent goal scorer he wouldn't be here. The criticisms of stupid and lazy are ridiculous. No one works harder and he's certainly not stupid. Besides, which striker has helped him this year. Who has been more threatening than he has? No one. Fortune is coming around but he's been far below average this year. Skippy was hurt and even before that he wasn't in great form. Everyone needs to relax as he has been the least of Celtic's worries.

thread shows a majority of fans have some regard for sammyI love the guys vibe, he seems a model human being and gives his all. You just want him to succeed.

 

where are these people gettin there opinions from that the supporters dont like players because they are not irish?? its got * all to with anything...mcgeady is pish and o'dea is pish(strangely enough both irish...hhhmmmm)

 

The two main problems I have with Sammy are that he is not consistent enough, & often his decision making at key times lets him down.
He is the most frustraiting player at Celtic, he has it all, pace, control, vision, movement & finishing, but he seems to have these little phases during games where his concentration wanders and he either misses a guilt edged chance or lays the wrong pass.

I like Sammy, & I think Mogga has got more out of him than WGS ever did, but unless he can sort out these problems, I can see him being an almost player instead of a fans favourite.

Agree with you Gunt ,i like Sammi aswell but i just wish he would move up the a further 10-15 yards into a more attacking forward position .

The great debate of whether or not Samaras is a striker rumbles on, some want him to play wide on the left, while other want him left out altogther, I personally am not a lover of Samaras because I don't believe he's a team player.

He's really only interested in his own glory, just think back to his style of play before the Greek world cup squad for South africa was finalised, he was being aggressive, he was hungry for every ball, he was scoring goals. The Greek squad is announced, Samaras is included, his passion and hunger has gone again.

We simply can't rely on this joker to perform constantly, his decison making is terrible, sell him as soon as we can.

 

woah, i knew that couldn't actually be the behavior of the average tim. Good to see that the problem was not my opinion but his manners.
After all, we re all just expressing thoughts of what we see in the pitch. Maybe we got different views, but i didn't get why that's bad.

Btw to the mate wondering why we think supporters like irish more... Actually, for me that's understandable, cause i m greek and i like Ireland more than my country
And not saying that it's totally the truth, but it would be totally understandable to have a softspot for Irish players , cause of the Irish roots of the club. Ofc that doesn't mean that any of us is calling someone a racist.

 

This particular trait was very evident today,ball would be whipped around nicely until it got to Sammi who would generally proceed to play it in any direction except forward.
A guy with loads of skill but not matched by an astute football brain, shame.

I think Celtic fans see that he really loves the team. For goodness sake, he took a substantial pay cut to come here. Every manager he's been under has refused to leave him off the team. I love the guy and hope for his success.
