I've been to both Lanzarote and Salou, and out of both of them I would pick Salou every time.

For me Lanzarote, although pretty much guarenteed great weather, didn't have much in the way for families to do other than lounge about the beach or pool etc. Plenty of restaurants and bars etc, but for me more of a place to go for more mature tourists etc.

Salou, however for me, is a great all-rounder of a holiday destination. Plenty of bars, restaurants, great beaches, plenty of Theme parks for the kids etc like Portaventura. Also, it is a great hub to go exploring this area of Spain should you like going on day trips or wanders. Plenty of good bus and train to take you to places such as Valencia, Barcelona, Tarragona etc very cheaply. For example, my wife and I got a full day trip to Barcelona for 40 euro with a company called Busplana, and with it we got a trip that included a VIP tour of the Nou Camp, free time in Las Ramblas/Port Vell, and see the magic Fountains at night etc. Definetly recommend Salou.

I was supposed to go to Tossa on a stag a few years back. About 12 of the Bhoys went all inclusive. They drunk so much free alcohol on the first day the hotel manager said their all inclusive was done for the holiday. A few Bhoys got annoyed, as did the manager. The police came and took 4 of the Bhoys away and they spent 48 hours in a cell, all on a five day trip.:57:

Jojo depending when you go. If it's summer you will be roasted for most of your trip. Pack plenty of sunscreen, especially for the kids. Factor 50 and apply every hour or so. Can't stress this enough. Bad burns= bad holidays.

Would agree with Salou, went there as a kid and remember enjoying it.

Theme park and Barcelona within driving distance.

I stayed at the H10 Salauris Palace in Salou last time of a Half board basis. I had previously stayed at the Dorado Palace a few years ago too.

The Dorado Palce was fine, but H10 Salauris Palace was much better in most aspects. The locations of both are maybe worth considering though. The Dorado Palace is at the top of the hill. It's fine for everyone unless they lack mobility.

The H10 Salauris is on the edge nearest Portadventura, which you can see from the hotel. It's still a fair walk.

The food was as good as I've had in any of these places. The staff were good and there entertainment wasn't bad at all for a family.

Alcudia. Taking the kids there in July. Santa Ponsa is another shout. Plenty of Celtic/Irish bars that are family friendly.

Lanzarote/Tenerife is getting expensive to fly to. Better saving on flights and getting a better hotel in the balerics

On Salou and Tossa de mar. I went Lloret de mar last year and it was like * Newcastle for young French *. Was my first holiday I realised imy not young anymore and it's probably best I take the kids from now on.

Lloret is deffo not a family holiday destination. It was 10 20 year ago
