I've heard it once against Hearts.

Would you like to point out which others game we've been chanting that at?

People are saying what's the big deal it's a banner, well for me the big deal is people like the above, and the amount of people on here who are prepared to defend this kind of mindset.

You've heard PIRA in the recent past?

You're just making it up as you go along now.

They were at it against Dundee Utd in the league cup semi. Im sure there are many more.

This is the problem though isnt it. It starts of as "just name one instance..." so I name one. But that is a one off. So you name more. But then I bet those are just another one off...

You never heard "theres only one Neil Lennon...like me and you he's a provo to". Great chant that one when the guy is getting death threats from bigots we have fans wanting to link him to the PIRA... And we wonder why he criticises said fans

Good post and while I fully agree with the sentiment you express, in practice it's utterly unrealistic. You've admitted yourself there's a media agenda against us so why would you endorse anything that gives more ammunition for them to fire at us? I think we both agree that the banner could and should have been better worded, that's really my biggest beef here. This makes it too easy for the red tops to slap a picture of the club badge next to "* UEFA" and all of a sudden out "world's greatest supporters" are "shameful hooligans" - again, not in my eyes of anyone who glances at the back-page.
I've got no problem with the debate over what songs are/aren't appropriate for Celtic supporters - personally I think we've got plenty of songs that would draw no criticism and still give a great atmosphere at the game but I've got to stand-up and admit that I wasn't brought up around the songs that are causing controversy so there's nothing for me to relinquish. I just wish this protest could have been a little more nuanced so it isn't so easy for the muck-rakers to sling * at our club. Ultimately - like most things - this comes down to a battle for public opinion. "* UEFA" doesn't win over a lot of independents that aren't familiar with the story.

The problem with the banner is...today instead of the papers all being about how well we played and how unlucky we was its full of this banner *.:31:

Proof? Seriously. I'm done with this. We're clearly on here trying to undermine our angelic support who do no wrong and if we've heard anything untoward we're either misremembering or outright lying. *'s sake. Next time I'll remember my tape recorder and make sure I can bring proof to the table.

That's been stopped as you know fine well.

And yet you still use it as a stick to beat fellow fans with. Well done.

The mentality on this board in thinking that we're always the "victims" is pathetic. As was the banner, and anyone with half a brain cell could tell that it was going to get us into trouble. But when you speak up about it on here you get fed the usual "we're more than a club. I'll continue to sing these songs and do what I like" BS and accused of not being a proper fan.

Anyone who thinks it was acceptable to do that last night need to take a long long look at themselves, same goes for the fuds that won't stop chanting the pira chants, you * don't deserve to support Celtic!!
