Another of those players that fell into the bracket of having the potential to make it here but needed a regular run of games to develop, while at the same time not being quite good enough to warrant getting that game time ahead of others. I think a move is the best thing for his career.

Went out on loan in the SPL and didn’t do amazing at Ross County tells me he wouldn’t cut it with us. Maybe talent there but if these players go on loan and don’t perform at SPL level are they really good enough for us?

A lot depends on how they are used and the system they are playing in when they are on loan. Attacking midfielders that are having to spend the bulk of their time defending aren't exactly going to get much chance to show what they have to offer. Another aspect of it is the quality of who they are playing with. For example if they are playing through balls expecting team mates to make runs into space, but they aren't on the same wavelength and don't do it, you are giving away possession, which looks sloppy but it's not reallly the passers fault. Then there is the manager. If it's a team fighting relegation the manager is much more likely to go with experience, so playing time can be limited. So I wouldn't say just because someone goes on loan and doesn't impress they are automatically not good enough for us.

At a team that tries to play some attacking football, like Hibs, and has some decent players they at least have the opportunity to show something of their natural game and are more likely to impress.

I get that but these teams don’t constantly defend mainly against Celtic and Rangers seem to be open and competitive against the rest. I get some of your points they had a few guys who had scored goals at SPL level he wasn’t exactly teeing them up on a plate was he?

I can't say if he was or wasn't as I don't tend to watch other teams unless they are playing us, and loan players don't feature in those. If you watched his every game for them, to make up your own mind, then you will have a better idea than me. All I am saying is I won't judge them based on some match day reports when they are playing infrequently in a team that doesn't suit their style.

    * there were plenty in the Ralston thread saying his loan to Dundee United was poor as well, does that mean he isn't good enough for us? It certainly seemed that way for a long time based on the odd appearance here and there, but it was only when we saw him get a consistant run of games we found out what he is capable of. I just think we are far too quick to judge players not good enough for celtic based on a lack of evidence.

Midfielder, Ewan Henderson has joined Hibernian, initially on a six-month loan for the remainder of this season before joining the Easter Road side permanently at the end of the term.

The 21-year-old made his Celtic debut at the end of the 2017/18 season in a 0-0 home draw with Kilmarnock before loan spells at both Ross County and Dunfermline interspersed his 12 first-team games with the Hoops over the past five seasons.

His four starts in the 12 appearances all arrived in the 2018/19 term, and Henderson’s solitary Celtic goal proved to be crucial as it came just a minute after coming on in the recent 3-2 UEFA Europa League win over Spanish side, Real Betis.

Everyone at Celtic Park thanks Ewan for his time at the club and wishes him all the best with Hibernian.

All the best to him. Really hope he makes it and I have a gut feeling he just might do that with the chance of regular first team football.

Better gettin game time and playing at a smaller club than warming the bench at a bigger club, never good for a young players development if they ain't seeing much game time.

If we haven't put some sort of first-refusal clause on then I think we've been a bit foolish.

Think he'll do very well at Hibs under a manager that wants to play football.

Aye I'd honestly have preferred to loan him out and sign him on a new 1 year deal. Seems generous, but we've had quite a few players properly break through at 21/22.

    100%

He's came out from in the cold twice in the last year and acquitted himself well v the eventual French Champions (playing out of position) and 4th in Spain.

    He's got plenty untapped potential
