Never properly scared as I don't play horror games but for some reason I always found Red Dead Redemption eerie as *:56:
Just because for large periods it could be you on a * horse trotting around in the middle of nowhere in order to get somewhere, next thing a * bear jumps on your back. Brilliant game though. -

Thief (the original one, not the new one) always scared the * out of me. It was so atmospheric and it really was an eerie game to play.
Resident Evil games are pretty intense as well. -

Bioshock 1 was pretty * eerie, the whole atmosphere they set with all the old music and vending machines and then those horrible * creatures with hooks for hands and women just appearing from all over the place when you think you're safe.
The jumpiest game I've ever played though is Minecraft by a mile, * just comes from nowhere. One minute, calming music fills the air whilst you're peacefully digging away at some iron, or building your house and from nowhere the sizzling hissing sounds of a creeper and BANG.Last edited by a moderator: Aug 9, 2014 -

I think one of the oldest games to scare was the original Doom as well. It's from 1993, so I know it's obviously dated now, but just at times when you're wandering along in the dark and then you suddenly hear one of the monsters screams you'd end up * yourself. Was also pretty graphic for it's time as well, especially Doom 2. I think that was the first game - if not one of the first anyway - to get an 18 certificate.

First ever resident evil scared the * out of me.
