As players, I don't, Virgil and Denayer were better IMO; but Jozo and Erik are quality and are both our players (unlike Denayer) and neither is actively trying to get a move to the EPL at the moment (unlike Virgil). In that sense, I like them better.

Btw, how scary was the resemblence of faces of Sviatchenko and that eddie Johnson dude?

Johnson looked like Erik's bigger blacker twin brother!

Thought that tonight, I was actually thinking Johnson looked like Erik and Henrik had a lovechild.

From his first match he lifted the level of the team defensively. He has his moments when he does something daft and gets booked but often when that happens he calms down and is solid as * - he was our outstanding player Vs Aberdeen and was getting in the way of everything. Jozo didn't get a look in!
He has been like that pretty much since he came here and apart from a few games where he seemed a yard off the pace when he came back from injury he is easily our best central defender. I love the guy and it seems he loves us too.

Hope he stays for years, cracking big defender and a stand up guy.

    He's magic, ye know.

Could not agree more and you get a vibe from him that he really appreciates what Celtic is and will stay long term. We are not just a stepping stone for him I think. If Simunovic can stay fit and catch the same Celtic bug they could be a really top pairing for us for many years to come especially when you look at both their ages.

He is catching the bug I think. Good thing aswell because he is a brilliant player who is only going to improve under Rodgers.

His mrs plays for the womans team and his twin sister is moving over to Glasgow to work. It looks like (I hope) he'll be here long term.

Absolute beast, he's only going to improve as well. Think Toure coming in has helped Erik reach that next level a lot quicker and will definitely help Jozo.

Erik Sviatchenko hopes to extend his Celtic career beyond the length of his current deal.

The 24-year-old defender moved from FC Midtjylland to Celtic in January and agreed a four-and-a-half year contract with the Hoops.

Sviatchenko has been part of the Celtic side which is currently leading the Scottish Premiership by a margin of 10 points to nearest challengers Aberdeen.

And he's already setting his sights on staying in Scotland for the long term.

"I could see myself being at Celtic for many years," he said. "I like the club, I like the place and I like the people around it.

"The city of Glasgow is really nice and all of those things together is a really good cocktail."

And he added: "It's about Celtic and us being the best that we can. We need to keep improving in every game but at this stage we're looking pretty well.

"Aberdeen are doing well and we had a difficult game against them so there are a few contenders."
