Why can't we have 9 other outfield players like Erik?

He was the only player on the pitch tonight who comes out with pass marks. Maybe Ciftci as well.

The guys has been here for 6 months and shows more passion than pretty much everyone else.

He must feel let down big time by the rest of the team.

Thrown in at the deep end in the semi final in the cup. He played well but we got beat. Had a good game against the huns and scored, but we got beat. Best player on the pitch tonight for us but again his team mates were *.

3 big games since he's been here he's been totally let down.

Make him captain. He is captain material all day. Has more of the qualities needed for that role than anyone we have.
Even Broony at this point. I say that because the one thing Broony did well was dynamism. Not seen that from him for ages. A captain needs to have more than that though. They should be a level headed, dynamic, communicative type who is also good with the ball. Leading by example.
Broony hasn't given us that for what feels like ages and it depresses the * out of me.

Erik is most definitely our next captain. Just hope it's soon as we need that kind of captain as soon as possible.

ERIK SVIATCHENKO last night insisted Celtic will finish off the job against Lincoln Red Imps after the team’s humiliating defeat in Gibraltar.

The Danish defender, viewed as a weak link by the semi-professional side before the game, was adamant that the squad were too professional to go out at such an early stage of the Champions League qualifiers.

The first-leg result sent shockwaves right across the football world; however, if the Red Imps were to knock out Celtic it would arguably go down as the biggest giant killing in the history of the European game.

However, Sviatchenko, while unhappy with what happened on Tuesday night, believes that was a mere blip and that he and his team-mates will not repeat the mistakes of the first match.

He said: “We didn’t expect this loss but we are confident when we go to Celtic Park we will do our jobs. We didn’t do our jobs on Tuesday night.

“Yes, it was a difficult pitch even though we shouldn’t need any excuses because we weren’t good enough. But if you see the goal it has suddenly bounced over the head of Efe Ambrose and didn’t go in our direction.

“We are still confident we will do our job at Celtic Park. That is our ground, it is grass and we will be top professionals. We did prepare well for the first leg and we knew everything about them.

“We were not shocked or anything. They played long balls and we had everything under control but that chance we needed didn’t go our way.”

Celtic supporters will find it difficult to accept that their team were ever in control of a match they seemed to treat as another pre-season runabout

This is something Sviatchenko rejected and said: “It wasn’t as if we were taking it easy because we knew it was going to be a difficult task. I was here last season with my former team and I knew how difficult a game it would be.

“Of course, we never go out to intentionally lose. We will do everything in our power to do our job on Wednesday in the second leg. It is never a result you want when you go into the Champions League qualifiers.

“We knew it would be hard and we didn’t get the result we had hoped.”

Sviatchenko admitted the Celtic players were hurting but insisted they remained together and this setback has not altered what Brendan Rodgers was trying to achieve with the group.

He said: “We have a very solid team and we are all working to the same goal, which is to go to the Champions League. You ask about the pride it is different. We just need to keep going and to be serious.

“We can’t jump around looking for the easy we out; we just need to keep doing the right things and to be ready for the next game.

“It is always difficult because we are still in the very early stages and you never want to talk about process and projects. “The new manager has come in and we are still adapting to all his ideas.

“Sometimes you will see good results and other times like Tuesday night where we didn’t score the goals we needed. Next week we will be one week more on and we will be even better. I am 100 per cent certain going into the second leg.”

Apparently their 34yo striker thought he was quicker than Efe and Erik and he mentioned that to the press after the game. Load of *. Although he did turn Efe. Saying that a wee gust of wind could turn Efe.
The guys just taking the * cus he score the winner against us. I really hope we rip them to shreds at Parkhead. Rack up a cricket score.

He did mention it after the game, he said he knew before kick off he was quicker than our centre backs.

ERIK Sviatchenko reckons UEFA Champions League quarter-finalists Wolfsburg will provide Celtic with a timely test this weekend but the defender has cautioned in reading too much into the final scoreline.
Saturday’s visitors are packed with international talent, and while Sviatchenko and his team-mates will be targeting a positive result to boost their momentum for the competitive matches, he knows making progress towards long-term goals are always the main objective of these exercises.
“They did well in the Champions League, progressing quite far,” the Danish defender told the official match programme for Saturday's game. “They have a good squad of players and Julian Draxler plays there and he did quite well during the Euros.
“My Danish colleague from the national team, Nicklas Bendtner, was there for a couple of years but now he has left, but they are a top German team. It will be a good test for us and we will need to be at our best to beat them.
“It’s always important to get that good feeling but we also have to make a difference” continued the Celtic defender. “In pre-season it’s more about seeing it in the fuller picture instead of going into one game and seeing it as progress.
In pre-season we have a limited amount of time to do our all and do our best, so it’s quite compressed and it’s difficult to judge the games by the results, but it would be good if we could get a good start.”

Someone on Clyde 1 last night said he should under the new era be the new captain as Broon clearly isn't up to that role anymore other than pretending he is some sort of hard man in the tunnel, I don't think it's the worst shout and I think he has the credentials to be our captain, no question

Defo should be a captain, if glass legs Lustig wasn't injured all the time he'd be mine, shows a lot of passion.

Brown should not play again for us, with a raft of others don't get me wrong, his name appearing on the teamsheet is nearly as bad as seeing Efe on it now for me.
