Gone off the boil the past few months needs some time on the bench. Today I thought he was absolutely dreadful in the first half ,improved a bit in the second but still not good enough.

He was particularly poor today. Slack passes, looked like he was panicking when forced to defend and just a complete lack of presence overall. I don't know if he's grown complacent with the apparent interest from England, or if he's just off form, but he's been grim so far this year.

At the moment, he doesn't deserve to be in the starting XI and Simunovic should be starting ahead of him.

I was also wondering if he's started to become complacent with the interest from England. He was such a consistent performer before us prior to that interest coming out.

I was thinking if this is the case while watching this game, never thought of him to be such type of guy, always thought he could become a new Lustig and stay here for a long time.

He just isn't comfortable at left CB. Barring emergencies it would be Jozo at left CB and one of either Boyata or Erik, as both are very right sided CBs, for me for the run in.

He looks far more comfortable alongside Simunovic. I still feel as a pairing, that is the best one.

As good as Boyata has been. Although even he nearly * it today, Gordon bailed him out.

Should've let him go and chase his dream of a relegation battle in the EPL.

Should've brought on Jozo after about 20 minutes, was clear he was mint upto it early on.

Wasn't great today but he wasn't anywhere near the worst centre back. Boyata takes that award hands down.

It's a difficult thing to judge, to be honest.

I agree with you that he was pretty much Mr. Consistent for much of last year, but he's been getting steadily worse since the turn of the year. He used to be a leader in our defence, but now he just looks completely lost.

It's a shame if his head has been turned because, like Monaghan said on the last page, he never struck me as the sort that would let it affect his performances. In saying that, I think many of us might have been guilty of romanticising his relationship with the club early on (although I can seen why we did).

In fairness to Boyata though, as bad as that mistake was (and it was a bad one), I thought he was decent enough for the rest of the match. Erik was pretty much consistently mucking about and just looking generally unconvincing. On current form, he just doesn't warrant a place in the starting lineup.

For me, since his return, Boyata has been consistently better than Sviatchenko. Even Boyata/Jozo has looked liked a stronger pairing than Erik/Jozo in recent months.

he has always been erratic though, loses concentration and his man, recovers sometimes but often does the rash tackle thing.

    can be better

His positioning sense today was very poor. Caught on the wrong side too often.

he is playing poor as he is playing beside boyata, when jozo has came in and played beside boyata he also has looked poor, about time we tried erik and jozo again.
