I've always loved Erik's attitude on the pitch but if this is his attitude as soon as he needs to fight for his place? I'm not so much a fan of that, making noises along with his agent.

He has the ability, work hard and get in there. Right now Boyata and Jozo are the top pairing for me...

Erik came in and immediately was a calming influence on a defence that was leaking goals. I am liking his fashion work as I have a passion for clothes. But he is wrong about the EPL being the best. Bundesliga for me is a better standard of football.

La Liga as well for me. Mid table teams in that league would win the prem

I was disappointed with his distribution last night. ICT gave him loads of space to move forward with the ball last night - particularly in the first half - and he just didn't utilise it.

All I kept thinking was 'imagine if Van Dijk had that space to carry the ball forward'.

He defended well, though, which is the main thing.

He always seems to play it safe in that regard this season, though when he first came in he would stroll forward into midfield with the ball without hesitation.
Maybe the competition for starting at centre half isn't working for him as good as it has for Boyata and Jozo.

He never gave it away last night though, played some good balls down the channels for Dembele and Tierney. Looks a lot better than he was a few games ago.

I don't actually think he's a great ball playing defender.

He is decent with it and more than comfortable but he isn't going to step out and ping a 50 yard pass every game. First and foremost the defensive side of his game is spot on for the vast majority of the time, and that is why I like him.

I like him, and he is good- but I think his charisma and personality has led many fans to believing he is much better than he is. I think Jozo is a much better CB. He talks and talks about the EPL without showing he's up to that quality

Dare I say he has shown shimmers of complacency lately. Getting caught on the ball, poor touches etc.

Still defends well though as people have said.

    Yep..

Was fine last night, but still gave it away when bursting on to the halfway line once or twice tops..

he's more like a puyol-style center half, rather than sneaky pique

Really like him, reads the game well. The perfect defender would be him, VVD and Balde rolled into one. That or Baresi :p

He gave it away plenty. A couple of times he played hopeful balls down the left channel for Tierney, and the one where he was fouled (but didn't get a free kick) sticks in my mind, too.

He's been absolutely woeful. In the same week he is talking about plans to move to the EPL he is getting bullied on and off the ball by John Sutton and Cammy Smith

Been having too many off moment's for a while..

Could tell what mood he was in early on when he gave the ball straight away on the halfway line. Doing that every game at the minute..

Thought Sutton bullied Sviatchenko today, and he is a bit small in stature to make a really good centre back in my opinion.
Boyata and Sviatchenko is not our best pairing. I feel Boyata and Simunovic are more solid together.

Big Sutton gave him a * of a time in the air today, I know he isn't the tallest but he was losing every challenge in the air at one point.
