    Well worth it for £2million, classy goalscorer who knows the SPL. Id like to pare him up with more of a targetman like a Murphy or Donaldson as someone suggested, could be a better version of McDonald and Vennegoor :notworthy

    Interesting that he's the country's top goal scorer. The last time we were even linked with the nation's top goal scorer, Jordon Rhodes, there was a big fanfare.

    24 games, 20 goals; Celtic eyeing shock Scotland return for £2m-rated striker

    John Guidetti may have been banging in the goals for Celtic this season, but with no goal in his last five games and looking set to leave, Celtic could still be in the market for a striker in January.

    With Guidetti only on loan from Manchester City and Anthony Stokes a reported target for Cardiff City, manager Ronny Deila has been linked with strikers in the last few days.

    First it was Dundee United's Nadir Ciftci, though reports in Ireland suggest that Celtic are also interested in Chesterfield hitman Eoin Doyle.

    Doyle, 26, is no stranger to Celtic having spent 18 months with then-SPL rivals Hibernian, where he scored 14 goals in 57 games before heading down to England.


    Since signing for Chesterfield on a free transfer in 2013, Doyle has been nothing short of a goal machine for the Spireites. With 11 goals in 43 games in League Two last season, Doyle helped Chesterfield to promotion to League One, and it's there where he's really made a name for himself.

    His record this season stands at 24 games played, 20 goals scored; a remarkable scoring rate which has not only attracted interest from Bristol City, Derby County, Millwall, Preston and Sheffield United, but has prompted Chesterfield to slap a £2m asking price on their star striker's head.

    Doyle will be a hot commodity this month, and if Celtic's interest is real, then they stand to be the favourites for his signature given their stature in comparison to other club's chasing his signature.

    Doyle has a good turn of pace and is a calm finisher - two things which have made him so successful in League One, and a return to Scotland could be appealing - especially with the club in question being one as big as Celtic.
