As I said on another thread, any offer from down South was going to be hard for Lennon to turn down, if it was from a Championship team or above. The offers haven't exactly been coming in thick and fast for him as far as we know anyway, and he can't afford to be out of management too long. He had to really take the offer from Bolton I think.

You think Lennon has went there and been told he'll be getting no backing?

Trust me, he'll get a few of our players in January being his first transfer window and wanting to play it safe.

Maybe he wont get Van Dijk but there is ever the chance that he'll offer for him.

If Bolton offered 7million I think we'd take it, I wouldn't want us too but there's every chance.

He will not be spending more than he was here, that's for sure. They can't back him with money they haven't got, that is the point. Lennon would have accepted any job from Championship level upwards, regardless of their financial position in my opinion. He needed to get back into management as soon as possible, otherwise he was in danger of being forgotten about. Bolton offered him that chance, he snapped their hand off more than likely.

This thread is like a lunatics asylum, when VVD leaves he will be joining a cash rich Premiership Club.

Should have waited to see if Fulham came in for him.

Could he take the chance on that though mate? Bit of a gamble.

He needed to get a job pronto, and when Bolton come calling, he couldn't really turn it down I don't think.

Would love it if it works out for him. Maybe he can do things with their current squad. Bolton is a stepping stone club.

I don't think so. It's meant to be that he left here because of the lack of backing, so I doubt he would join Bolton, who he has no affinity to, with no backing. I do agree that he is at risk of being forgotten about.

Also struck me as a surprise to hear that Johan and that other guy will be joining him there. What happened that made Johan want to leave us? Was Lennon's mind already made up about leaving before hand? (Join us next time on TC media... )
Can't wrap my head around it but I can guarantee he'll bring some of his own players.

That is what I was getting at though mate, he didn't really have any other options down South, so even if the team wasn't in a good financial position, I don't think he could turn it down. It's an opportunity for him to get his foot in the door so to speak down there, and he has jumped at the chance, with the first team that has come calling.

I don't think anyone in their right mind can say Ronny is doing an "excellent" job, however I agree with the main point of that article that it is the players, not Ronny, who shoulder the vast majority of the blame and that RD can't control our terrible inaccuracy. We create chances every game, yet our strikers have been woefully poor (Guidetti included so far, though I really like him) at putting the ball in the net.

Those statistics make interesting reading, im not sure how surprised I am to be honest. Its no secret that he wants us to attack and his formation alone is testament to that. I hope the penny drops and everything comes together.
I also hope that if/when things do click, that we will not suffer in the future at the hands of teams who have the quality to exploit our defensive inbalance.

But regardless, wins get you points, and as Sir Alex said "Attack wins you games, defence wins you titles."

The statistics mask how exposed we can be and id sacrifice a good percentage of that "shot dominance" in favour of more defensive solidity.

And the year we had a hard time getting through the qualifiers,Lennons team toured Australia twice, yes games on the east coast, then a game in Perth then back to the east coast, brilliant.

Ronny may not be a *,but he is clueless.

That tour started six weeks before our first qualifier vs Sion (in the EL not CL). Not really sure what context that point is made within but in terms if qualifying for the CL, the signs were on the wall last season when we barely made it past two awful teams - Elfsborg and Karagandy - who will spend a fraction on their football department as we do.

Was at a Q&A with Brown, Guidetti, Gordon, Commons and Van Dijk last night. They were all full of genuine praise for Ronny and they feel like they are just about to click, frustrated at the start of the season and feel it's been very stop start but they were genuinely full of praise for Ronny, not just the stock * answers you usually get.

They were all taking the pish out of each other for not being able to eat chips etc. never seemed unhappy about it, just something to take the pish about.

Found it interesting, it was a stark difference than what the press were reporting.
