carling deal is till the end of next season. i remember the pics of strachan and big eck with the rangers and celtic tops with 20 and 10 on the back advertising the new deal

I obviously have to be very careful with what I say considering how much I dislike the huns, but when I've read articles outside of Scotland the Old Firm is seen to be one of, if not THE most intense local derby in the world.

These matches are beamed to a wealth of countries across the world and undoubtedly contribute to the television deals for the league as a whole.

I also think a lot of people are missing the point regarding our rivalry. Yes we are associated with them. That's right - we are associated with one of the most despicably behaved teams in Europe as Manchester 08 has proven. Considering we are MOST famous for hating the huns don't you think that the laymen across the globe are going to respect us for standing up and taking on those *. Our rivalry is what connects us.

So apart from one of the biggest marketing opportunities in global football (with regards to passioned derbies), we are seen to be the anti-Rangers and so it should remain.

 

I dreamt last night that rangers changed their sponsor & we kept carling

On the topic - I think Carling will finish up sponsoring us & them in 2010. hopefully we can get our own sponsor instead of sharing with the huns.

If its good buisness wise then their is no reason Guiness would not sponser.
