Try and pay more attention to your team and the players in it, rather than just watching Champions League every 2 weeks and comparing our players to the best in Europe.

    Enjoy your miserable night moaning...

Seems to really suffer from lapses of concentration. One minute he looks world class, the next you have your heart in your mouth watching him. Not his night, but not the only one

Ambrose tonight was worse than any Celtic player I've seen in a European game.

Are you sure? Do you remember Daniel Majstorovic's performance in the 3-1 loss to Sion? Probably not actually, considering it took him less than a minute to get sent off...

I only watched highlights.... so take my opinion with a heap of salt.

Efe seems to struggle against top level opposition. I'm basing that off of 3 games in which we played top European talent and he has been responsible for a one or more goals:Juve, Milan(home), and Barca.

He gets it done in the SPL and against some European teams so he's not useless, but I think we need to continue to look for a better partner for Virgil that is of a similar type to Efe without his defensive lapses.

We won that game 3-0. In all seriousness Ambrose looked so out of his depth tonight it was scary. I know he was playing world class players but he was literally passing the ball to them five yards away, and letting players walk past him.. I'm usually a fan of his aswell.

    I'm not picky.
This coming from the man guy wants to see Bangura have a steady run in the team when he comes back off loan. The same Bangura who done less than nothing when he was with us.

You really don't half post a load of *.

OK, genius, this season, apart from yesterday and one other goal in the Champions League that I can recall, how many of these "one woeful mistakes a game" that you gibber on about have actually directly led to us losing a goal? I'm willing to bet that it's a handful if that, and that's including yesterday's game. Our losses in the Champions League this season were down to the team as a whole - not because of him. Even IF the Scottish Premiership is his level, then he's doing a * good job of helping our campaign so far this season to retaining the League Title.

Plus the things that are being said about Ambrose I'm sure a lot of people were saying the exact same things about Kelvin Wilson after his first season with us a mere two years ago, yet look how he performed last season.

Seems that Ambrose is the new Celtic scapegoat no matter how well he plays.

    Exactly.

Total bomb scare last night. Then as always on this forum one player has an off game and everyone jumps on their backs. Get rid of him, he's terrible etc etc. a massive over reaction.

    * sake you lot are making me cringe.

Anyone watch Man City v Bayern Munich 2 nights ago?

Dante had an absolute shiter that game, was the fault for 2 goals. I can bet the Bayern fans still love him, and he'll still be considered one of the words best centre backs.

Efe had a bad game, it's allowed and it doesn't mean anything if we lost or won apart from a bit of pride. I still love him.

Depends on what standard you judge him against...

He looks very good against SPL opposition.

He looks very average (and sometimes downright awful) against anything else.

You're seriously comparing a world-class defender in Dante to the absolute bombscare that is Ambrose? :smiley-laughing002:

The guy is * * up against any good attacker, he looked okay last season against Barca because he had 6 or 7 team-mates around him. He was * DREADFUL last night, and was brushed off the ball like a little girl against Milan too. If you think he's the type of defender we need for the Champions League then you have a screw loose. I doubt Neymar will ever get an easier hattrick than when playing against this dud.

Why do you think he's good? Because he looks like Maldini against the likes of John Sutton with all the space in the world, and sometimes does the odd mazy run up the park? He is dodgy as *.

Manipulating what someone else says is a terrible way of trying to make them look stupid and win an argument.

I did not compare Efe and Dante's ability.

In fact I didn't compare them at all, I just said they both had a bad game this week.

It was the supporters I was comparing, people like you who seem to * love coming out and slating our players when we lose, that's very weird to me.

Why do I think he's good? Again, I didn't mention anything about his ability, so I don't understand why you're asking that question. I know you asked why I think he's good, but I think he's good for the same reasons lots of people on here think he's good, so I'll let them answer you.

I could quote 100+ more if you wanted.

People like you who revel in criticising our players after a defeat make a little bit ashamed of being a Celtic fan.

Off night for him, he is what he is, outwith last night him, Van dijk and Lustig have been our best players in Europe.

Were those quotes picked up from Champions League games (where our players should be judged) or against poor teams like St.Mirren & Motherwell where he looks like a superstar against duff players? He has been exceptionally dodgy 3 times this calendar year against Juventus, Milan & now Barca - resulting in 3 humiliating results. A competent defender would have kept the score down, and certainly wouldn't have put in performances as lacklustre as this guy. Some of his touches last night were nothing short of embarrassing, looked like he'd won an auction to pull on the jersey. He can be decent in the odd game, but you just know a shocking performance is not far away. A constant liability.

He'll probably have the mighty James Collins in his pocket on Saturday and get rave reviews again though, might try a mazy run and get MOTM too.

Absolute nonsense to suggest our players should only be judged in the Champions League. In case you forgot, to get into the Champions League, you have to also take care of domestic matters, where Ambrose has been solid this season.

The League is already won so the Champions League is where these players should be judged, not against poor opposition. That's where they aspire to play and why they sign for Celtic. You see their true ability against top players like Neymar & Balotelli not mediocre ones like Steven Thompson & John Sutton where they can look like world-beaters without getting out of 2nd gear. Commons can score all the goals in the SPL, can't do a thing in the Champions League.
