Eboue Kouassi

Discussion in 'Ex Players' started by 4-4-2, Jan 3, 2017.

  1. Waste of wages. He isn't a terrible player but he isn't going to trouble McGregor, Christie, brown, ntcham or even bitton for a place. I can't see us making any profit or even our money back. Anything over a £1M and he can go for me

  2. Should try and loan him to an English championship side

  3. If possible, anytime we have a failure like this the player should be pumped out on loan to England as soon as possible, straight down to the land of bang average 15m quid players.

  4. I say that about anyone we're looking to get rid of/loan out..

A season in the championship against dross and suddenly 15/20+ player's..

  5. Totally agree mate. I really want to like Kouassi as he's shown in flashes that there's something there. Though If we're look at it objectively you're right, just can't see him breaking into our midfield in its current state.

Tbf, I think Biton is probably on his last legs aswell. Once we have our squad properly set up, I can see him. Being moved on also.

  6. Minute the rat said he signed him after only watching a 10-20 minute video I thought he was at it!

  7. He’s got potential for days. This is one we’ll regret I think.

  8. No we wont. In a few seasons, he has hardly done anything and hasnt looked like breaking into the first team. No point in keeping him if he isnt going to play.

  9. To be fair, that comment is self-defeating. His initial six months here was for resting and likely helping to integrate with squad, off the back of the Russian domestic league ending. He was then unlucky with injuries, and then once fit, not given much game time, except matches he shouldn't of featured in anyway, much the same as Mulumbu. The manager ultimately picks the team, and sometimes all players need is that bit of luck to show what they've got - McGregor, Tierney, Christie, Johnstone are all players I can think of recently who got that luck, but to say hes hardly done anything and doesn't look like breaking into the team isn't really fair when he hasn't been given the chance.

From the limited appearences I've seen of him, I think he can be great for us and would like to see him get his chance. Think it would be a mistake to sell. We need depth in our midfield, and getting rid of a defensive minded player who can turn defence into attack would be criminal.

  10. Totally agree!

  11. Would rather loan him out as I've said elsewhere.

He needs a full season injury free somewhere. Hibs..

  12. Rogic, Christie, Ajer, McGregor are all examples of players who had no chance of getting in our team and some of whom were on our books for a few years before they got the opportunity.

Kouassi is definitely one of those players who would flourish when given a run of games. Baffling to say he’s hardly done anything when he hasn’t had more than 2 appearances in a row.

Loan him out, unless we’re getting 3M back for him (which I highly doubt) and have someone lined up.

  13. Not at all.

Do you think that six months is a reasonable amount of time for a player to settle into the team? He played 10 games for the Russian side, he had hardly come off the back of a long season.

If he was judged to have been good enough, he would have played and he would have been given more of a chance, however Rodgers still felt that is was necessary to sign Mulumbu who was higher up the pecking order despite being a free agent and not having played any pre season games. In addition Rodgers wanted Mcginn, which clearly suggests he never felt Kouassi was good enough.

Iv seen him play a handful of times for us and iv felt that he is a very limited player in possession. The guy has played 22 competitive senior games at 21, How can you use words like great when he still hasnt shown any sign of breaking into the first team? He hasnt even went out on loan despite not even making our bench regularly. Its a vital time of his development and he is not playing.

Henderson has had far more impact in a shorter space of time and will be twice the player Kouassi is.

  15. I would agree with that unless we have someone lined up who we can recoup our costs from loan the lad out he needs a season long loan where he can get regular games because that is not going to happen for him at Celtic this season.

  16. He has actually played very well for us several times, including in Europe where he played and won the ball higher up the pitch. I think that there is a player there, needs to go out on loan for 6 months to a full season

  17. All of those mentioned were younger than Kouassi when they went out on loan. We paid over £2.5m for Kouassi, which doesnt suggest he was bought as a player we had intended to loan. Ontop of that, i dont believe that Kouassi has near the ability of any of them players.

Its not baffling at all, its fact. In two seasons he has played a relatively small amount of games and for large parts has failed to even maintain a place on the bench. Strangely, despite this he still hasnt went out on loan.

We have signed three players in the same position since the signing of Kouassi. The bottom line is that he isnt even close to being considered a first team name. The fact that Mulumbu was signed is indicative that there is a belief that Kouassi isnt good enough.

  18. Can you make a case for us to keep him? I find there to be a lot more behind the case to move him on than for us to keep him.

I was quite strong in my convictions for us to sign Mcginn and there were a few on here who had tried to claim Kouassi was better, depsite the fact EK had still done practically nothing and JM had been a scottish cup winner by 19 and was highly rated. Absolute madness. Lets revisit that notion one year on haha.

When we have talent like McGregor, Christie, Henderson, it baffles me how some can even try to suggest that EK could be “great” and that we might regret his sale. We have to go on what we know.

What if we could his place in the squad to a player who could achieve far more?

  19. i think He needs a season of football preferably in the spl (probably should have been out on loan last season) to give himself a fighting chance of getting into our team
