    * Petrie & Dempster. Give them NONE of our players on loan. We have loaned them:
    Mark Brown
    Richie Towell
    Dylan McGeouch
    Liam Henderson
    Anthony Stokes
    Kris Commons
    Efe Ambrose
    Scott Allan

We bought Stokes from them for £1.2m and Allan for £275,000

I disagree. I think his passing is a couple of levels above McGinn’s. McGinn might have more physicality than Eboué, but Eboué has shown that he can hold his own on and off the ball.

Eboué might not be a direct replacement for Armstrong, but he is a fantastic prospect; we have seen glimpses of that.

I just cannot understand why we signed this guy, Brendan clearly has no intention of playing him.

In terms of passing Mcginn was one of the best in the league per 90 minutes last season for playing key passes and has a far greater range. How can you reach that conclusion?

Id say that players like Ajer and Edouard are fantastic prospects.
    Kouassi isnt that level.

All of that is an absolute load of *. They had a valuation, we placed two bids 750k short of that.

    Villa placed one bid- accepted.
    We matched same bid- accepted.
Villa came in and got the business done efficiently and professionally.
We fannied about and lost out.

Dempster pulled lawells pants down and made him look silly.

Guy has to go out on loan, especially if we're going about bringing in another CM. Would like to think mcginn not joining would give eboue more gametime but i don't see it.

I've usually against the board and think they are tight as *, but on this one I'm not blaming them.
We did not lowball them at all, we came in with a decent first bid to test the water and got rejected and told "4million", then another bid "4 million" then another bit at half their value and told again "4 million".

They were not for budging at all.
But villa come in with apparently one bid (they were quick to leak ours) at 2.75million and what did they do...accepted blindly. In fact, we got told they even let the lad go south before they had even signed the fee off.
Where was the demand of "4million" that time? Not even attempted to get 3million.

They clearly did not want to sell to us till the last possible moment. their choice, but that's not our boards fault.

Its 100% our boards fault. BR wanted him since last season, why did we wait so long to bid for him?

decent in your opinion, but there were other teams interested! We didnt have a clear run at him. We were 750k short of the FIRST and only bid villa made, thats a huge amount for a club the size of Hibs.

The papers speculated £4m, he was sold for £2.75m!

Your 100% wide of the mark, our matched bid was accepted..

Once a bid is accepted a team cant withdraw when another team offers the same amount. What if a deal falls through?

Whatever way you look at it, Hibs got what they wanted and we didnt! As soon as a team signed JM they could have instantly made money on him. We came out looking terribly * from the whole situ.

The good side of us not signing McGinn is hopefully Eboue gets a lot more game time.

Sorry that won't help wash away the sin of a cheapskate board ignoring a perfectly good opportunity to sign a tremendous midfielder for a low cost, oh and who also happens to be a Tim.

Especially when we're talking about an inferior player being at the club, who we somehow managed to find 3m for despite much less evidence to tell us what we were actually getting for that. :43::drag:

Don't the Hibs fans hate us? I saw them responding on the McGinn twitter post calling us all the Septics and what not.

I certainly agree that this is 90% the board's (PL) fault - they tried to low ball Hibs because McGinn wanted to come to Celtic and was in the last year of his contract.

We do indeed look * and cheap - I'm not a massive McGinn fan and would never have paid 4 million for him. However, BR wanted him and I think if we'd gone to 2.5 - we would have got him weeks ago. Given our current financial status - it was hardly going to bankrupt us.

The one caveat being that Dempster and Petrie would have made every effort not to sell him to us (short of losing money). With all due respect to Neil Lennon, I wouldn't consider loaning any or our players to Hibs - in fact apart from the Huns (Glasgow and Edinburgh varieties) - they'd be at the bottom of my list to do favours for.

“Would have” is absolute speculation and theres no evidence to back that up whatsoever. Its a total fallacy that there is an anti celtic agenda, 100% myth. The fact that we matched villas bid which was accepted, disproves this whole idea.

Had we put in a the highest bid or an acceptable one (in the first intance) it would have been accepted. There has been many dealing between the two clubs in the past.

In both instances now of Brown and Fletcher, Hibs have gotten a better deal than the one Celtic were intially willing to offer. They done nothing wrong, need to get over it.

Not to loan Hibs players would be incredibly naive and we would only stand to lose in the long run.

Id want him to get game time on the basis that he is deserving of it, as opposed to just that we need to rotate and he is the only viable option to allow another to rest.

I hope he goes on to do well and develop into a fine player for us. Today is a tough game to come into having not played very much but he will need to take his chances when they are him given to him, given the competstive nature of the position currently

Hardly fair to jump all over a guy that's not kicked a ball in how long ? The full team were an utter joke today, at least he wanted to try and take control at times. Of course he's going to be a bit rusty. He'll come good.

It was Rodgers that spent the £3 million on him.
