that doesnt make him a bad player, he is playing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world.

you scoff, but what has Kouassi really achieve other than one or two performances of note and a few cameos? Remember we paid millions for Kouassi, Henderson was our player all along and had broken our first team before Lennon left. charlie mulgrew left us and played for a number of teams on what could be said as a lower level to us, before coming back to us and being very successful.

What Henderson done, leaving, winning the scottish cup and making a way for himself in Italy deserves a lot of credit.

It deserves credit but it's ridiculous to be beating the same drum saying Henderson should be here instead of Kouassi. Kouassi might or might not be good enough for Celtic, Henderson isn't.

He never said he was a bad player, he said not underrated. He isn't, he is okay but there was no need to keep him around

He's played 180 minutes of league football this season, so this is a bit of a stretch.

Playing is a bit of a stretch. And even if he was a regular that doesn’t mean he’s suddenly good enough for Celtic.

Nobody is saying anything about not giving him credit. The point was that we should have kept Henderson.

Henderson isn’t good enough regardless of Kouassi. It’s like saying bring back Rogne because of Hendry is pish.

That doesnt make him a bad player.. there could have been a multitude of reasons for that. Going on the basis you are using, there would be a far stronger case for Henderson given how much senior football he has played to date, than there would Kouassi. Narrow minded doesnt cut it.

Don't put words in my mouth, I haven't said he's a bad player. I'm just pointing out that your claim that he's 'playing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world' is nonsense.

and the original point alluded by the poster who named Henderson, was that we could have kept, as you put it an “okay” player who got occaisional game time and was a useful squad player, however instead spent circa £2.5m on Kouassi who has never been able to maintain a place in the first team and has never looked like doing so.

It is one of the most competative leagues in the world. I would imagine there is a lot of competition for starting places, moreso than what there would be in the SPL, and that the financial consequences for teams who fail to win would put a lot of pressure on teams to get results, similar to the English premier league.

in any case, this point is insignificant to Hendersons ability as a footballer.

Yes, but my point is, he's not really playing in it, is he?

Henderson wasn't good enough for us, and as it stands, Eboue doesn't appear to be either.

Rogne would have been class if he wasn't slower than Majstorovic with bricks tied to his ankles:giggle1:

as someone pointed out, yes he has played 180 minutes so far this season.
Greg taylor “wasnt really playing” until relatively recently btw.
do you know who he is competing against for a first team place? Miguel veloso and Badu. Two seasoned internationalists.
Henderson has shown a lot of professionalism and a cracking attitude for someone still only 23. Whatever happens, his time in Italy will serve him well and he will become a very accomplished footballer in his own right.

Just because Kouassi has been a failure does not make Henderson a player we should have kept. Brown, McGregor, Ntcham, Rogic, Bitton and Christie all in our centre midfield. All are far better than Henderson.
He may be against good players for a place but if he was that great why the * did they bring 2 players in to at ahead of him in the league.

maybe not, but he was still more useful and productive than Kouassi.

Teams take risks when signing players, it happens but when Henderson went he had been tested by Rodgers and judged as not good enough. To be fair Rodgers had a fairly good judgement on midfielders.

Are you his Da? You keep trying to make up random excuses for him when all that was said was that there was no reason for us to keep him as he wasn’t ever going to be good enough.

It’s pretty bizarre how you’re going on about Italian teams finances and Charlie Mulgrew.

Random excuses.. i said he was decent ffs. all you have been able to come back with is he hasnt played much this season.

just to remind you that it was you laughed at the original poster for suggesting that we would have been better served developing Henderson, than we would have spending £3m on Kouassi.

not sure iv went into finances but but there is an undeniably high standard of competition for places at his team, and as previously stated there could be a variety of reasons why he isnt playing.

Again im strong in my belief that he will go on to be a very accomplished player and when/if he does return, an above average player in the SPL.

And again, Henderson has done a great deal more both with us and in his career than Kouassi, yet your focus is to try and discredit him as a player.
