Lets me ask you,if we had kept wanyama until he had 6 months left and got 3 million for him would you be happy.
If the club is getting knocked back by a few players they might have spent 2,3,4 weeks working on a deal only for it to fall through.
Then they have to start all over again.
Sometimes we have to sell before we can replace..we aint man u who can just spend the budget and know there is always more if we need it.

Only natural we are downsizing, given the financial circumstances we work in.

Its not a myth, its the truth. Also, we are not a big club anymore. The reality is we are small club.

Yes and we would still have him for another 6 months, what difference does it make how much money we recieve in transfers if we are only going sign the same standard of players anyway??
if the people in charge of signing players cant get the best players to come here and are constantly throwing away millions on duds every year they are not doing their job right. any other profession they would have been sacked long ago. so they buy 5 £1 million players who might make it instead 1 good £5 million player incase it reflects badly on them ,it has * all to do with how it helps the team

I just wish we'd stop signing * players, or lightweight players. We need to get back to having a midfield that's tough to break down.

If anything it's a down-sizing of the physical nature of the side. Ledley and Wanyama versus Biton and Johansen. All good players, but different in terms of being able to hold off opponents and run games

The club spends 3 million per month we have to cover that from somewhere so the money coming in is important.
When the club got wanyama, hooper, ledley for under 4 million it was fine but when we spend the same amount of player that fail its sack the * board.
The footballing world is full of players out on load or released on a free and even sold off for half their cost to the club.
If you want a higher % of player to make it here then we have to bring them in on loan....try before you buy.

in the last 24 months we have been downsizing , 100 %.

Sold all the best talent without replacing it . Wanyama , Hooper , Wilson , Ledley , Samaras all sent packing because they are looking to shrink the wage bill as much as they can ....

These players have not been replaced , they have attempted to replace them with 5k a a week players like Griffiths , Blade , Biton and a few youth players ...it is a clear downsize ...i fully expect forster and van dijk to be gone within the next month and Forsters replacement is probably Craig gordon ...

The wage bill is getting smaller and smaller , and the team is getting worse and worse

Some scheming malcontents in our support. Trying to undermine our beloved board at every turn.

Sit down, shut up & be a man.

I agree with this, wouldnt bother me having half a dozen players in on loan for the season with an option to buy at a set price agreed before the loan period starts.

Name 5 players you'd have replaced them with then?

We actually replaced them with Gordon, Van Dijk, Mouyokolo, Biton, Johansen, Boerrigter, Fridjonsson, Balde, Pukki, Berget and Griffiths. Plus remember Lustig, Izaguirre and Stokes got new contracts last season. You will find that the wage-bill hasnt gone down.

i think they should have tried to sign Lescott and Hangeland on free transfers. The wages would be more than we would normally pay but no transfer fee would make up for that.

they done their job!! thats what they are paid handsomely to do ,if they landed messi for under 4 million i may start singing their praises but they signed decent players for decent money.and as you point out
so they havent really gone above and beyond .should we just ignore the millions they have thrown away trying to polish turds instead of investing when its required

Criticise the club for not spending..Pft. You are unaware of our financial situation. No one should dare say a bad word about our club.

That is not our role. We have to back them to the hilt 110%. That's the Celtic way.

Want mad spending, Manchester isn't far away.

Well if the board want bums on seats they better do something, cause the attendances have fell and ST sales by over 10,000 since 2010!

So what is our exact situation then financially?

and thats relevent because? at end of day we know and surely they must know that our defense isnt great and so when the opportunity arose we should have been making enquiries about both those players even tho at the time we had no manager. any manager would be happy coming into a club knowing that theres at least 1 solid experienced defender there and thats without VVD being brought into the equation.

We play in Scotland, there is no money here. Simple.

They are doing something, we are promoting the youth and a development squad. That's the way forward.

Some of those turds they polished turned into FF,wanyama,VVD.
You cant slate the board just because they fail with some of our signings.
They find a good player..great...the player they sign does not work out...sack them.

We will never every get it right as often as the fans want.
Your expectations have to be realistic.
High price does not mean he will be the next legend.

Plenty of people on here have complained that the board are business men and not football men,so when it comes down to a player failing should it not be down to the manager and his staff and the scouts.....???

Just how does a board go above and beyond......???

so the board are infallible because they sign a couple of players who turned out to be good ( again just ignore the millions wasted).once they realize they are good they sell them how tha * does that benefit the team ever???? the team will never get any better if they are constantly selling their best players which part of that is so hard to understand??if selling your best players without signing players of the same standard isnt downsizing i dont know what is

i would have offered ledley and samaras proper terms instead of pay cuts...and the wage bill has definitely gone down !
