Ledley and Hooper were always likely to go to England. Vic was offered a better deal when he started to attract interest from the EPL. We could see his potential long before this but were to tight to offer him until it became pointless

I and many other Celtic "fans" must be all the same then. It is the do-Gooders like you that are the problem. It came straight from the horses mouth that there is a lack of investment in the team. Guys like Ledley and Samaras were practically begging for new contacts, but according to the board lets get rid of them and replace them with projects who might bring in the ££££ OR let's buy No-one and pull the wool over the eyes of the happy clapping "fans" . The board are incompetent - and that's just on the field. Their treatment of the fans should be enough to make you boke.

Because even with Wanyama at first he showed signs of being a bombscare like Efe, he would not of been worth risk at that point as he was just too unproven and not worth it at the time as there is no telling if they turn out great or not.

Ledley was making noises for AGES about how happy he was at Celtic. I don't think he was lying. But then again, what do i know? The same can be said about Samaras. The PLC said a contract was on the table but it is quite obvious there wasn't. That is downsizing. We got rid of two guys with large wages and will replace them with a project or worse NO-ONE

Lennon explicitly said that Pukki and Boeerigter were nearer £1m

Do we aspire to the champions league? How many champions league teams spend less than 2/3s of their sales. We are flat-lining where I would hope we could show even marginal growth.

I do believe we need to live within a budget but I think we are living well within this budget rather than pushing its limits.

Are you suggesting that epl managers saw his potential before us?

A year or two left on the contract is pointless....???...just when do we offer a player on a 3 or 4 year contract his new contract...after his first game if he does well...???

We had spotted Vics potential before Christmas(those of us wernt blind). We could have doubled his wage and added to his contract then. If he refused well nothing ventured at least we would have made a real effort to keep him if even just for another 12 months.

Nope just suggesting that when he first signed he would not have been worth more then he was on, like any normal person he would have to prove himself worthy of better terms, to which he did, however he proved so well in the end his head was turned by the even bigger wages he was being offered

So ledley was happy...he didn't lie....but the board said he had a contract on offer for months and they are lying....let me guess.....its a fact....and you know this how....???????
Or are you just jumping on the hate the board band wagon and * the truth.
We also spent 2 million replacing ledley and the new players wages....i would have thought it would have been cheaper to just give ledley more money.....but yeah downsizing.
As for sammy we can't really say about him until the window is shut and we have not spend or finished spending on his replacement.

If we where to have done it that quickly, people like Izzy, Kayal, Lustig, Matthews, Commons, Hooper, Stokes, Mulgrew (POTY) and Forster would to have all followed suit to try and keep some harmony within the team and then that is when trying to do this for players in our squad becomes a difficult task to manage and keep our "star" players appeased.

As I previously stated we could have made the offer before the EPL teams had noticed his potential.

Was Vic not on substantially less than all of the players you mentioned? Should Mulgrew(POTY) not expect the same as Scott Browns?

Edit: Should it be a problem if Vic gets the same as Kayal when he is keeping him out of the team?

You really really think celtic didn't make a real effort to keep the best player on the park at the club.
You don't think that his agent didn't say...vic lad your doing * great and everyone is talking about you...epl here we come.
He was not stupid and he had no intention of extending his stay in the splfplf no matter when the contract came...a day a week a month a year into his contract.

We will never know really but can't imagine he would of been on that much less then someone like Izzy as they were both totally unknown players to a degree.

But what you raised there possibly even highlights my point I'm so badly making :smiley-laughing002:

If Vic by Christmas (half a season) should have been offered double wages etc... chances are he would be close to touch what players like Brown and Ledley and possibly what Sammy are/where on and therefore it could have * of other players as they had proved over a course of a whole season and not be rewarded as much as Vic was.

If this is the case then you believe Vic would not have signed a longer contract with us initially regardless of the wages offered. This I do not believe and the best I can say is that we will never agree on this one.

Should it been a problem if those who had a great half season like Kayal did when joined much like Izzy and others mentioned not be rewarded the same way as Vic if Celtic adopted the contract offer you suggested?

It would have rightly annoyed a lot of players as most of the them busted a gut the season before and got rewarded with * all other then a winners medal and probably some domestic bonuses etc..

Whether true or not I heard Vic was on less than1/4 of Sammys wage. This is what I am basing my opinions. If I am wrong in this assumption then fair enough. but if this is not the case then would you not agree.
