Wearing sportswear is so common in Ireland nowadays though its pretty much overlooked when anyone wears it. But I don't know unless you're playing to me its always seemed a bit juvenile.

I used to wear Celtic jerseys out but I just don't think its very appropriate for a man my age anymore, hitting 30 here quick.

Mainly wear them for 5-a-sides and gym/running now.
I used to wear them out very, very regularly up until the age of 16.
The reason I don't anymore is because I don't like the advertisement on the front.

It might sound silly but I don't want to walk around with a Carling or whatever billboard on my front. The weird thing is I don't think twice when I see other people wearing them, I don't think anything bad about the sponsor at all.

When I see other Tims out and about I even sometimes try and say "'mon the hoops" or something to them. Even some young lad riding his BMX with his mates last summer and I was driving past and I shouted it, he stopped and he was like cheering as I looked in my rear mirror haha!

I've got the 67 top and I'm getting the 86 away for Xmas and I won't have any problem wearing those out and about. I'll definitely have to buy the proper strip without the sponsor and even the polo shirts, jackets etc are smart. Hate giving so much money to the superstore though... Especially with the plc being * at the moment.

Oh yeah last thing, there's definitely a time and a place for wearing the tops. Chilling out at the weekend and wearing it under a hoodie. That's fine. Just think, could I be mistaken for a ned or do I look respectable enough? Meh whatever each to their own.

Some. They're more English greasy chav than Scottish dopey ned. We're not far from Liverpool you see lol.

I was thinking more in terms of Scotland with those comments though.
I'm sure you can appreciate walking around in the States with colours is fine and can get you people asking questions etc.
In the Isle of Man it's fine too (and stands out against all the English red/blue teams).
In Scotland though there's so many Hun-like supporters around and although I don't hide the fact I'm a Celtic supporter (I play 5's with Gers, Hearts supporters too), walking around all the time with Celtic tops on could easily get you bottled or worse here. Knowing my luck I'd run into some clown that would do that.

Only when going to a game or playing it. Otherwise I don't anymore...not that there is anything wrong with it.

I don't really have a problem with anyone wearing the top but it annoys me when people wear the full kit and they aren't playing football. Like John Terry.

For the most part, no. Not anymore. But I do wear them at football or the gym, as well, so I guess it's a 'yes'.

Don't wear one going to the game but I always take a scarf.

I'll wear them in the house fannying about and also under my overalls at work just to annoy zombies :50:

Yes. It seems to be much more acceptable in Ireland. I often see guys in there 60s wear football tops.

Did anyone have a problem with this older lady displaying her colours

I don't see the problem wearing a football shirt at any age. I find it more silly when people wear t-shirts with big * off logo's on or music band t-shirts or chav/Hipster * like Boy clothing or any other brand that is in fashion at the moment. I agree with the poster who mentioned the sponsor that is the main reason I don't wear modern shirts as I don't want to be a walking advertisement. I do like the retro shirts without a sponsor though.
