Apart from the OF game, he's been mince. What's he scored this year? 3 goals?

He was immense when he came to us on loan, but quickly went down hill when he signed on.. since then he only seems to buck up his ideas when contract talks are due.

He's a terrible player but against Rangers he is good. Keep him off every match apart from old firm games.:86:

I like him but I think its time to part ways. Russia would be a nice fit for him.

I think we should hang onto him for another year. I reckon he will have a good Euro 2012.

I think he'll have a big part to play next season.

but, 3m is tempting, only if Lenny promises to invest it in a new striker.

Think he only got a deal, so as we could sell him.

£3m is more than we could hope for, I'd sell for 1/2 that.

I like him, but he's never going to learn, seems one of those uncoachable players - never releases the obvious pass & always runs down dead alleys.

7 goals: one in Europe at the start of the season, a hattrick against Inverness is the League Cup, 2 against the huns at ibrox in the League, and then a goal against Motherwell at Celtic Park at the end of the season.

I don't know why people still expect him to be a goalscorer, he obviously isn't going to be one.

Hello, non-neutral and totally bias poster here!

Samaras is mostly useless. I have watched most the Greek NT games he has played in.
Here are somethings he does for Greece you may find similarities with at Celtic:

Slows the game/attack down - he receives the ball, two seconds to get it under control instantly lost, ball under control, passes backwards. Other times, ball finally under control, starts up the old engine to charge forward on a long run which 90% of the time results in either a throw in/ loss of possession/ corner or nothing. 1% of the time results in a clear cut chance or goal. The missing 9% he actually runs back towards his own defense if he has too many midfielders around him..

Poor positioning - for a big guy never seems to be in the box enough to clean up scraps and when he is, he seems easily pushed aside buy defenders half his size..

Poor football brain - sometimes just doesn't see the obvious pass, needs a little meaningless dribble before building up to a pass he should have made with his first touch.

I find him completely infuriating. Since he was 21 he has needed a total reconditioning and excellent coaching to harness the powerful player that emerged from holland. All he has found is clueless coaches. It is truly obvious when you watch his play he has either never been coached properly or simply ignores what the coach orders. He has had the chance the remedy this. He has been offered contracts in Spain, which would instantly force him to be a better a player, it is sink or swim for a player like him in La Liga.. However he has chosen time and time again to remain at Celtic Park. Why? I have a friend who yelled at him to play in Spain, he looked up and confused and said, 'why?'

My point is, even if his agent, Celtic fans, Greek fans, etc want him to go to Spain and/or even Russia, I doubt truly he wants to leave Celtic for whatever reason. he is totally sold on the scottish league, knows he will always be selected to play in the Greek NT because Greece has so few decent attacking players and I think you will need actual violence to remove him. I truly believe if suddenly he became actually good and barcelona asked him for a trial, he would hesitate.. that is how buried he is in Scotland.

£3m would be an amazing bit of business for a player that should be at his peak yet fails to score even double figures in a team that creates a phenomenal amount of chances.

Has contributed very little this season outwith the R*****s game in January. Pretty much cancelled that out with a penalty miss in the last game.

Thanks Sammy, but £3m would go a long way towards a Shane Long, Robbie Keane or some other more prolific striker. When you look at it like that its a no brainer isnt it?
